Bungie backtracks: ODST is the end of the line for Halo 3 |
Ó
Erm.. so maybe it IS over, after all. Just a couple of days ago, we reported on Bungie making a statement that Halo 3 content will still be worked on by the studio for probably another two years. Today we found out there actually are "no plans" for that new content that Allan Murray talked about previously.
Said Bungie,
We'll never say never, but currently Bungie has no plans to make new Halo 3 content beyond the release of ODST. We will, however, continue to support the Halo 3 online experience with regular updates to matchmaking playlists and wield the Banhammer as needed.
With Forge and Mythic map Sandbox we're already seeing the community stepping up to create some great new maps and gametypes that will offer more variety and longevity to the game down the road.
The future of Halo 3 online will become more and more defined by the people who will play it.
Looks like somebody didn't get the memo.

that Halo is no longer as hyped up as it used to be, because it's *****
the nightmare ends.
>:| way to go bungie....I was looking forward to a halo 4, I don't care what any idiot says about series "after 3 its too much" if a series is good enough to go past 2, it should go as long as it could, look at COD, we're anxiously awaiting CODMW2 which, is like COD 6...but if you include all other itterations of the game it would be like COD 9....yet Bungie quits? way to go. quitters.
You gotta remember Frankie's team at Microsoft. They said they will continue making Halo games.
But MS isn't. Bungie couldn't make anorher Halo game if they wanted to, they don't own the Halo IP. MS would have to give them the green light
But when Bungie split from Microsoft MS made a dedicated Halo dev team. What they're working on should be obvious. Halo pulls in way too much money to just not make a Halo 4, Halo 3 had the biggest launch in entertainment history, ie including movies, books, TV shows, etc. MS would be dumb to not make more
They just say Halo3 is finished after ODST.
No surprises here to anyone that finished Halo3 on legendary, or read the ghosts of onyx.
Both are left wide open for sequals.
