Blue Dragon's Shu outsells Link in Japan |
Ó
Is Japan warming up to the Xbox 360? Well, from the latest report from Japanese company Japan videogame market watcher">Media Create, it seems as if the Xbox 360 is on their way to capture the hearts of the Japanese thanks to a boy named Shu. The Blue Dragon gamble seems to pay off as Media Create reports that the Xbox 360 RPG has outsold The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in Japan.
The Media Create data for the December 4-10 week shows that the Sakaguchi-Toriyama-Uematsu creation is occupying the fourth spot with 80,000 copies sold. In a shocking turn of developments, the latest Zelda game for the Wii dropped to number 17 in Japan. It's not that Japanese gamers are not loving the game, there are some speculations saying that the reason for Zelda's performance is due to the fact that quantities of the game - and especially the Wii hardware - have become near-impossible to secure in Japan.
Yes, that could be a good reason. But for now, Blue Dragon is basking in its new-found glory. We could only wonder if the game sales would stay this way, dwindle, or improve. We'll hook you up with info when more data comes out.

It just shows that if you get quality games that appeal to the market you can sell copies. I think that if there are more RPGs the 360 will do better in japan..and it wouldnt hurt if that put that cartoon porn crap those crazy japs like on there.
Finally, the 360 has an RPG that it can be recognized for. I agree with the comment above that if you really put together a good story along with classic game play and beefed graphics, people are going to become curious. I think that designers need to understand that along with good graphics, you need something that’s going to draw them in and allow them to sink into the story. Way to go Microsoft for pushing out a quality RPG. *thumbs up*
usually i just right comments relating to my pee fetish but here i have to be serious.. i havent been this excited about a game let alone an rpg since final fantasy was still in the mid single digits(i think final fantasy XXXXXXXXVIII is coming out) this game is original yet familiar due in no small part to the beautiful art style. i loved chrono trigger and i will love this... if only ps3 had games instead of a betamaxray drive.
all you guys that said the japanese are bias toward xbox or the fact that xbox is american made product that is why it will not sell are retarded, the japanese gamers simply wanted to see some quality japanese developed games come to xbox, blue dragon is the second one, I think dead rising was the first but blue dragon is definetly the bigger title 4000 xbox 360 sold last week this week 35,000, xbox may even suprise everybody and win in japan you never know imagine microsoft as the new market leader. LOL
but.......got damn outselling a nintendo Rpg is bad enuff....but its ZELDA?!?! omg now thats crazy! but man MUCH love to MS, BETTER thank nintendo AND sony....COMBINED! watch how Microsoft Game Studios beats SCEA AND Nintendo....
