Blizzcon 2007 will be held this August 3 and 4 - Image 1Blizzard has just announced that Blizzcon 2007 is pushing through despite earlier announcements that there will be no Blizzcon this year. The event is held to celebrate the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises along with the players who play these fine games.

Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, gave a few words regarding the Blizzcon.

We were gratified by the response to our first BlizzCon in 2005 and have been looking for an opportunity to hold a follow-up event ever since. With BlizzCon 2007, we plan to deliver another entertaining and informative experience for the attendees, and we look forward to meeting all of them again this year

This year's BlizzCon is open to all gamers, young and old, and there also seems to be something for everyone as the event will host a wide variety of activities. These activities include discussion panels with Blizzard developers, artist and developer signings, competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents, as well as World of Warcraft TCG tournaments and demos.

Other things to watch out for in this 2-day event are the costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests. On top of these commemorative merchandise and other products based on the Blizzard franchises will also be on sale, while the more competitive collectors can participate in the silent auction. Live orchestral performances of music from Blizzard games will also be held for everyone's enjoyment.

The event will be held on August 3 and 4 in California, and tickets for the event will soon be available for a price of US$ 100. Though a little pricey, it may be safe to assume that more than a few Blizzard fans are probably going to bite the bullet and pay the high cost of admission because of one simple reason: It's Blizzcon.
