They've repeatedly denied that there will be a Gears of War 3 coming our way, but the secret's out of the bag now, and really, people aren't exactly surprised. In last Saturday's live 1 vs 100 game, Epic Games poster boy was asked by host Chris Cashman about the said upcoming shooter sequel, to which Cliff Bleszinski spilled some beans on Alex and some rumors surrounding her presence in the game.

According to Cliff, the female soldier's presence (from the graphic novel series) in the third installment as a playable character "may or may not " be true. That does not reassure much, but what the heck. Gears of War 3 is coming. We'll jut have to be patient till more concrete details come out.

I had thought it was common knowledge that GoW was supposed to be a trilogy from day 1.

I don't think they are denying that the sequel is going to happen. I think it is more if the character Alex from the book is going to be in it.

A game where she plays the main character would surely sell. If they make her smokin hot and give her some climbing ability they could maybe pump those games out like Tomb Raider.

Just bad wording on QJ's part, no surprise there. Not sure where they "repeatedly denied" that Gears 3 would ever release, and that link in the article is just Mark Rein saying they were not working on it at that time. Blezinski confirmed it'd be a trilogy before the first game was released.
