CVG reports that BioWare has decided to refrain from committing to a release date for its Xbox 360 sci-fi game Mass Effect. It seems that in the company's IGN blog, when asked by the community on when the release date will be, BioWare had this response: "Well, we're still at a stage where we can't commit, but stay tuned for future updates!"

It can be recalled that a few months ago, CVG reported that the game will be released come September - this after the game was supposedly set for a June-July release. A few weeks ago, QJ blogger Gino D. reported that even BioWare community coordinator Christ Priestly has noted that it WON'T be in September.

So when will it be? Oh yeah, they "can't commit."

Microsoft's comment on the situation is this: "We have not made any official announcement regarding release timing for Mass Effect. At this time, any information about the game's release date is purely rumor and speculation."

For the eager, of course, this is a bad sign, as they're going to have to wait. For those who want their Mass Effect with a dose of polish and bug checking, this is a promise of good things to come.
