For the first time ever, we finally have a specific release date for Irrational Games' BioShock instead of the vague "summer" target. According to 2K Games' The Cult of Rapture website, the game's street date has been set for August 21. No details yet on whether the date is for the U.S. only as well as which platform (the game is available for Xbox 360 and PC) it's for.

BioShock is, quite frankly, one of the most-awaited games of 2007. It tells the story of Rapture, and underwater city created by scientists to become the perfect society. Of course, as with every "perfect" society, it soon crumbled under its own idealism. Players will stumble onto Rapture and discover that it is now home to vicious mutants and other powerful guardians.

The game mixes a spine-chilling setting illustrated with art deco art and architecture and sci-fi themes of bio-genetic mutation and self-modification. BioShock features a deep storyline with open-choice freedom to interact with the world as you choose, and first-person action that requires you to think every time you pull the trigger.

» It was coming out for the PS3

But then Mr. Bill moneybags Gates came along and now it's a PC / 360 exclusive. nothing new. Good thing I have both consoles or I'd be pi**ed off. But the game does look amazing plus the story seems very interesting. I reserved it along with Halo 3. Meanwhile I'll be having fun with Heavenly Sword and Motorstorm.
