Bethesda has finally broken its silence regarding the upcoming release of Shivering Isles, the official expansion for the award-winning The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The company confirmed today that the much-awaited expansion will be released for both PC and Xbox 360 this spring.

"WeÂ’re thrilled with the response that Oblivion has received to date and feel that Shivering Isles will offer a whole new and different experience to anyone who played and enjoyed Oblivion," said Todd Howard, executive producer for The Elder Scrolls. In 2006, Oblivion logged more than three million units sold and garnered Game of the Year and RPG of the Year honors from numerous organizations.

Shivering Isles features more than 30 hours of new gameplay and allows players to explore the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Shivering Isles adds to the existing world of Oblivion so you can continue playing with your existing save game/character, or create an all new character just to explore the new content.

The PC version of Shivering Isles will be available at retail. Xbox 360 owners can get their copy of Shivering Isles through Xbox Live. For a sneak peek, check out the screenshots below.

Geeze because instead of fun lets get achievment points to make my e***** bigger? Come on who CARES about gamerpoints. Yes there cool to have but dont go through a game chasing down gamer points and skipping other essentials!
