Best Buy imposes taxes: taking advantage of Halo 3 mania?

Best Buy comparison Chart - Image 1Folks down at XBL Radio have noticed a rather disconcerting piece of info on Best Buy's site: a lot of Xbox 360 accessories' price tags have been increased by US$ 2.99 from the original price of the product in the official Xbox 360 website, presumably as a tax.

Their theory is that with Halo 3 so near, Xbox accessories will likely be in demand so Best Buy's just riding the wave. This could have been also spurred on by the new HDMI model that might also have been the reason Amazon let go of a whole batch of Xbox 360's with a US$ 70 price cut.

Best Buy hopping on the Halo train isn't really a surprise since everyone else seems to be getting in on it, even 7-Eleven. Then again, Bioshock isn't that far away either and it already claimed top spot on GameFly as the most requested game. Best Buy could just be anticipating a good season for the 360.
