Best Buy Gets its Halo 3 Release Date Right?

Xbox 360 gamers who've browsed through the Best Buy website late in June were pleasantly surprised with a November 16, 2006 release date of the highly anticipated first person shooter Halo 3. Of course, we know better than to rely on Best Buy's ever-changing release dates. We don't know their reason for stamping an earlier than expected shipment date, but they claim they have the right to make changes without notice. So we give them that.

Perhaps the release date was a mistake then, but it sure made some folks think that it's Microsoft way of thwarting the PS3 launch - scheduled a day after the supposed Halo 3 release. Well, whatever the reason, that's behind us now, as Best Buy changed the Halo 3 release date to a more credible November 30, 2007. It's good to know that Best Buy is setting their info straight, even if it still appears they're guessing.

Oh by the way, just so we'd have some comparison, Future Shop has posted an estimated release date of November 30, 2007 too. So, what does this tell us? What do you think?

I think it tells us nothing, stop looking into what these companies state as release date when they really have nothing at all to do with the game. When Bungie is ready, they or MS will tell us, not some thief of a corporation who are apparently always "sold out" of their sale items, even when I get there a half-hour after the store opens.

Maybe the exact date will be announced at X06?

For those that don't know, Futureshop and Best Buy are both the "sisters."

So them both having the date Nov. 30, 2007, isn't to be taken seriously. Only if bungie announces it...

Thief of a store when you come 30 minutes after opening? I think that you are just too lazy to come when the store opens to get your system. I came 30 minutes before opening and got mine when it opened. Cant help they sold out in 4 minutes.

Yes, and you derived that from my message how? Please explain to me how I was talking specifically about the Xbox 360 in that post. Oh wait, that's right, YOU CAN'T. If I meant Xbox 360 I would've said it fool.

And you must live in some backwater state if you actually went 30 minutes before they opened and recieved one, here in Bellevue WA I would've had to have gone 12 hours before they opened to even have a chance. There was some loser who waited 24 hours for one.

I'm talking about just about god-damned near EVERYTHING they advertise on sale. The last five times I've went there for something some jack-ass has told me, "We had a rush when we opened, sorry were sold out". And the last thing I went there for was fuggin rewriteable DVDs, for Christ's sake. Who the hell sells out of fricken rewriteable DVDs 30 *****in minutes after the store opens?! No-one, that's who. One time I was actually there when they opened and they did not have the item I was looking for (which they advertised in their flyer), and the event was reported to the BBB and the Attorney General.

I would be extremely pissed if that is going to be the actual release date, I am expecting a febuary 2007 date, and why would they announce that date when the game has been in developement since the release of halo 2, and why announce it at this years E3 then make us wait so damn long, and then all this info about the games multiplayer and single player being tested, the game needs to be out early next year, not so damn late.

3 years development for each (assuming halo1 took that long).... makes sense, huh? besides, id rather wait an extra year to make sure this game is perfect then getting some *****ty game with lots of "updates". this will be the game you play for next 2-3 years so lets make sure its perfect.

just to let all of you know, in the uk we have a magazine called "Games UK". In the magazine towards the back, they have advertisements from various companies (konami, EA, Sega etc) to join there team in building games for next generation consoles. In last months edition, Bungie were advertising for skilled people (with precious experience in game design) to work on there next generation game, Halo 3, which, they stated in the magazine, won't be arriving til mid 2007. Now that advertisement is straight from the horses mouth, no false statements from stupid websites or anything. ill try n scan the advert and see if QJ will post it on here

Even if they were to launch Halo3 on the same day as the PS3, do they think they would be able to affect the sales?

Halo series is a very over-rated game. Linear Single Player, Easy AI, and a small handfull of weapons.

Halo as a single player game sucks. Both of them. I have never been so bored playing through an FPS that after pklaying the first one for around 2 hours I was so bored I couldnt play anymore. The 2nd one was worse. After an hour of stealing vehicles and dual weapons it still didnt get my attention after a couple hours.

The multiplayer is the "only" thing the halo series has. Bungie needs to take tips from developers like Valve. Whos half-life games have always paved the way for good gameplay expirence. People still play through the HL2 single player game which is more then I can say for the Halo series as one time, is just about enough.

Hacking in Halo2 on Xbox Live has become a serious problem as well. I gave up playing ranked games online because of people jumping sky high, speed hacks, and my entire team being instantly killed when the server lags like when people use to exploit the standby cheat.

It is true best buy intentionally stocks very few if any sale items. They do this so maybe you will buy something more expensive convienently located nearby. It is a business that manages to screw people without breaking the law or stupid customers even noticing. Online, everything is in stock since it is much easier to shop around.
