Barack Obama campaigns in Burnout: Paradise, 17 other games - Image 1You know the political scene's really heating up if a presidential candidate starts wooing video gamers for votes.

Reports have come in that Presidential nominee Barack Obama started an advertising campaign in 18 games, so don't be surprised if you suddenly drive by an Obama ad when you're racing in Burnout: Paradise.

Looks like the ad campaign will only run on Xbox 360 games, as it's being handled by Microsoft-owned in-game ad firm, Massive Incorporated. Other games that are included in the campaign are Madden, NASCAR, NBA, NHL and Skate. Republican nominee John McCain "passed" when approached an offer for ad space.

Electronic Arts explains that the campaign only targets 10 different states: Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Colorado, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Incidentally, all of these states (save Wisconsin) went for George W. Bush in the last election.

Now for those who are interested in the politics of the situation, bear in mind that it was the Obama group that approached Massive with the idea for in-game ads. Also, Massive does not endorse either candidate, and are treating the ads as a TV network or radio station would.

This isn't the first time Obama campaigned in video games though. Early last year, he (or at least, his avatar), campaigned in Second Life.

» Hmmm.

Since nobody here has the balls to say what they believe, Ill go ahead and say my opinion.

OBAMA ALL THE WAY!!!

It's truly sad if some believe we're not ready for a black president, especially since we just a had a retarded one.

by TimmaH - 2008-10-16 04:08
» ahem*

it's not just cause he's black, ya know... he has some VERY crappy ideas of what to do IF he gets in the white house... one of them being to get rid of the second amendment. also he will attempt to get rid of your ability to use a gun for HOME DEFENSE! so if someone comes into your home and SHOOTS AT YOU, you WILL NOT be able to shoot back! i personally think that is rediculous! you go ahead and support him, and watch your freedom wash down the drain. i doubt you even care about guns, but hey...

that got a little out of hand... i didnt intend for that to sound racist, prejudice, etc... i would've said the same if McCain (or however u spell it) did it too.

by Nevers - 2008-10-16 05:23
» Nope... TimmaH

You merely sound uninformed and completely lied to by the campaign I assume you support.

-intolerant of any opinions differing from their own:

TimmaH responded to what opinion again?

-intolerant of people of different ethnicity, race, or class:

so saying somebody looks like a monkey is insulting their ethnicity, race, or class now?

in trying to be smart, you used the word bigot wrong

» Nevers, the sheep

Have you taken a look at Obama's record on gun control?

The man comes from my state, Faillinois, which is possibly only second to California in the degree to which it takes people's rights away.

hahahaha... um ... you must be sheltered.

Wow, everyone is sooo concerned with their "right" to buy guns for shooting people.

Call me stupid, but LESS people getting shot has to be better than MORE.

by TimmaH - 2008-10-21 05:42
» Mister Common Sense...

thing is... guns dont kill people, people kill people. guns should not be held responsible for what people do with them. MOST people who buy guns use them for respectable reasons (aka. target shooting, competitions, hunting, etc.)(not to say that i support the killing of animals for game)

oh... and thank you orlyeh, at least SOMEONE here has some common sense! ;)
