Steve Ballmer - Image 1After making his "new Xbox 360" announcement at The Executive's Club of Chicago, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer personally makes the clarification for his confusing statements, complete with an apology. Even after Aaron Greenberg's quick rescue, it seems that the clarification must come from the guy who made the faulty comments. Speaking to IGN, Ballmer admitted his poor choice of words and apologizes for what it caused.

"I confused the issue with my poorly chosen words. There is no news in my comments. Things are as reported after E3. Sorry," he said.

Hey, we all make mistakes. You gotta be more careful when you're CEO, but yes, we all make mistakes, and that's that - no new Xbox 360 will be coming in 2010, but we might see Natal in the said year, perhaps bundled with an Xbox 360.

Even Major Nelson clarified the issue:

You don't make a comment that outrages unless theirs something behind it. I don't think their will be a brand new console but I also don't believe theirs nothing behind it, must be something in between

I've got some better words for him if he believes his are poor: plausible deniability, retraction, backpedaling...

All announcing this early would accomplish is to slump current product sales and likely kill many christmas console sales, especially in wake of the RLOD problems (which are hopefully better off now that the new boards are to market.)

» Yea that's why he isn't backpedaling

All talking about it this soon would do is piss people off and hurt sales, so why would he ever do it? Ballmer isn't that stupid, he just made a mistake in wording.

They are not releasing a brand new console in 2010, common sense should tell you that. They have the third titles in exclusive trilogies slated for late 2010, namely Gears 3, they wouldn't release a new console in that same time period.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, late 2012

maybe not a new console but a new featured serie , like elite one but , right now its stupid to lunsh the xbox360 download service with only 120 GO of hard drive so

120 owners will be limited to + 12 games

60 owners to + 6

20 + to 1

also microsoft wana make xbox a livin room gadget with as seen in video fast responding and toun on , so i cant imagine a xbox in livin room with a wifi antena stick on it too nasty , also A xbox near teh LCD or standed horisantaly since we will not pute xbox on the open space Because we could HIT IT , so most peole will Put xbox near DVD player or ... and that mean a iminent RROD .

GUY microsoft will lunsh a new silent console on 2010 with a new CPU , and new huge hard drive

.
