Another rumored Unreal Tournament 2007 release date - for the 360 |

You have to love online retailers; they know how to make a writer's blood pressure blip up half an inch. Especially when they "let slip" a potential release date for a game. And somehow, you have the feeling they'll retract it later. Anyway, today's victim: the Xbox 360 version of Midway Games' Unreal Tournament 2007. The perpetrator: The UK-based Play.com. And their crime: October 10, 2007.
It is October 1, 2007, right? We decided to check out EBGameStop - you know, that other release date leaker - and they don't even have a marker for the 360 UT2k7. We don't even recall hearing much about a 360 UT2k7, except for this little report that the 360 would get UT2k7, and that was way back in August. IGN says that "a possible Xbox 360 version has been considered but not actively developed", but Wikipedia cites a 2006 E3 Next-Gen interview with Midway CEO David Zucker that mentions that the 360 will get UT2k7.
Heck, the only question is, is it October 1, 2007? Only a press release from Midway can answer this satisfactorily, but chances are getting a hard date right now from them is as unreal as it gets. Perhaps after the PC launch - and even that one comes with its own bag of rumors.

Mentions getting it, but nothing is final until Epic says they are in development of it. Unless they are using other dev teams to port it to the Xbox360.

UT2K7 is all about the mods. Modifying the game the way you want to, how you want to. This is something that is not possible on the Xbox360 because of the way Microsoft regulates Xbox Live.
Its a good chance the PS3 and PC version will have unrestricted downloadable options. So a Mod coming out on the PC can be used on the PS3 as well. This cant happen on the Xbox360 because Xbox Live doesnt have any open download sections.
UT2K7 without the mods is like playing GoW with no multiplayer. It would ruin the game to failure. So if you want Ut2K7, then have MS make Xbox live downloads with more freedom. No mods = slim chance of UT2K7 on the Xbox360.

Epic Uses Nvidia Geforce 7 Series Mainly in their Development...Meaning the PC and PS3 Versions Will Be close....Unlike the 360 Which Needs Tuning..
Gears Of war Which Also Uses the UE3 has Very Linear Levels,Slow-Paced Action,Small Multi-Player of no more than 8....Yet it Suffers from Slow-Down to [15 Frame/Sec]
If the 360 Barely Runs Gears...It Will Hardly Run UT2K7.
UT2K7 Just Like Every UT has Huge Levels,Huge Multi-player,Intense Battles...and Is Very Fast-Paced
The PS3 CELL processor Huge Floating-Point Performance Will Render The [Physics] that will Be utilized in UT2K7 in its Best Quality....Which the 360 CPU which is Better at General Purpose cant Handle Such Physics With all the Intensity..
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t+70056
"This is What Tim Sweeny Lead Designer of UT2K7 have to Say About the CPU,Physics and CELL processor..
Jacob- And ten years from now do you vision that we will see... GPU's handling graphics, and PPU's handling physics, CPU doing A.I. and that kind of thing or do you think we will see some kind of blend of the 3 technologies or maybe 2 of them?
Sweeney- Looking at the long term future, the next 10 years or so, my hope and expectation is that there will be a real convergence between the CPU, GPU and non traditional architectures like the PhysX chip from Ageia, the Cell technology from Sony. You really want all those to evolve in the way of a large scale multicore CPU that has a lot of non traditional computing power as a GPU has now. A GPU processes a huge number of pixels in parallel using relatively simply control flow, CPU's are extremely good at random access logic, lots of branching, handling cache and things like that. I think really, essential, graphics and computing need to evolve together to the point where the future renderers I hope and expect will look a lot more like a software renderer from previous generations than a fixed function rasterizer pipeline and the stuff we have currently. I think GPU's will ultimately end up being... you know when we look at this 10 years from now, we will look back at GPU's being kinda a temporary fixed function hardware solution, to a problem that ultimately was, just general computing."
"Jacob- Just a few more questions here, kinda of in tradition of last year.... R600 or G80?
Sweeney- Ha-ha, well at Epic we are using mainly the Geforce 7800 and 7900, we have a few ATI cards, they perform really well and we are really happy with the solutions from both companies."
He Sees Cell as the Future....And will Be fully Utilized in UT2K7...They also Nvidia GPU,s Mainly
Also...the PS3 has a Standard HDD,Which Can Be Used Right-Away by Epic as a "Stanadard" to Increase Streaming
All This Will Make the PS3 Version Incredible....The 360 Had Gears...Which Carries a Similar Engine But In a Much Smaller Scale..Yet Had Slow-Down
Cant Wait.... :)

CALL OF DUTY 3
PS3 visuals are great, though a problematic frame rate leaves the game looking decidedly less impressive than it does on the Xbox 360.

Looks like the 360 version will as usual have the better graphics.

Call of Duty 3 and other multi-platform ports suffer on the PS3 for that reason, they're multi-platform ports on a brand new system.
Broken_hero is right, the PS3 is set up much better for large scale, fast processing games. Its CPU is much more powerful.

Only the ignorant believe that. The Cell CPU is a little better for calculations, but the 360 CPU is better for general code. So devs say each will be suited to certain types of code, but on average, they balance out in the end.

If it was Call of Duty 2, then that would be a port, but Call of Duty 3 was in developement for both the 360 and PS3 at the same time, so it's not a port. Games like Oblivion can be called a port because the 360 version was developed first.

Stop talking out of your butt, the PS3's CPU is slightly more powerful for calculations, the 360's CPU is more powerful for running code, so they are about equal overall.
