We promised to give you an update as soon as possible about FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage and so, here are the details: Empire Interactive just announced a release date as well as a couple of new details for the upcoming installment to the widely successful demolition derby-style racing game. Before we get into the nitty-gritty of things, take note that Total Carnage will be available by June.

Now, Empire and developer Bugbear Entertainment reiterated that they decided to bring the game to Xbox 360 because of FlatOut 2's success during the last cycle. Empire Interactive CEO Ian Higgins commented on the matter and according to him,

The FlatOut franchise has been incredibly successful to date with the first two games in the series both selling over one million copies around the world, so we are very excited in being able to reward the loyal FlatOut fan base with a next generation FlatOut game. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is that game and it is undoubtedly the best FlatOut game to date.

Also, Empire knows well that they will be competing against other racing titles and a simple port will not do the trick for them. We've mentioned last time that fans of the game are expecting something new. So below are the all new features for the game. And it looks like Ultimate Carnage is ready to "bring it."

Features:
  • 12 cars racing on screen up from eight in FlatOut 2
  • Five all-new single player and two all-new multiplayer game modes over Xbox Live
  • Over 8,000 dynamic objects per track up from 5,000 in FlatOut 2,
  • Widescreen High Definition resolution (720p)
  • Dynamic lighting and shadowing all with proper real-time environment mapping on all vehicles
  • Downloadable content via Xbox Live
  • 20,000 polygons per car up from 7,500 in the previous generation
