Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures director explains delay |
It was a sad day when the developers from Funcom announced that they're delaying the release of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (PC, Xbox 360) to May. However, it seems that they have some pretty good reasons to do so.Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures' director Gaute Godager sent out an open letter on the official site explaining that they have to push back the release date of the game because of the number of bugs in the game. He explained this further:
Although we have seen bugs go down as predicted by statistics, the increase in polish didnÂ’t really follow suit. This discrepancy can only be explained that the bugs we have fixed arenÂ’t by themselves flawless. Two bugs out of beta and one in.
In the past, this game's release date was already delayed because of problems with combat controls and balance. So it's no surprise that this second delay has gotten many members of the community concerned about the status of this game. So before we go, we'd like to leave you with a few comforting words from Godager:
As opposed to our last pushback in August, we are not about redesigning parts of the game this time around. Now we are on the final stretch, with the goal plain in sight. I have assured you before, but we are neither the first nor the last gaming company to add more development time to our game in the last stretch.
That is not an excuse though, but ultimately itÂ’s the quality which matters. That is the only yardstick which truly matters. This additional time is about hope. In only four more months you will know if we made the right move. I feel confident we have!
