AccellThe company Accell who has etched their mark as a premium provider of audio/video interconnects just recently announced a new innovation, the UltraAV HDMI 2-1 Switch, which is a compact UltraAV HDMI Switch. This baby enables simultaneous connection of two audio/video sources and includes a razor thin wireless remote to easily swap between each source.

The company remains optimistic that their product will click because their competition's existing switches often costs more than $300, placing them out of reach for many consumers. Aside from that they are also bulky which makes them intrusive in many home theater installations. The Accell product boasts a small size for an HDMI switch - it claims to be smaller than a deck of cards. Also it has a MSRP of $99.

Since the switch doesnÂ’t use external power there is no power adapter. This design saves additional space and frees up a power outlet for other equipment. Michael Weizer, Director of Marketing for Accell said that "our UltraAV HDMI Switch was designed to deliver high performance at an affordable price. Now enthusiasts can instantly enjoy a variety of HD sources without breaking the bank, or their backs!"

The HDMI Switch maintains the highest resolutions of up to 1080p, and is compliant with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) devices. ItÂ’s backwards compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) when using an HDMI-DVI adapter or cable. The switch features a wireless remote control, an infrared extender and a built-in manual toggle. Nice!

» why is this here?

The XBOX 360 does not and will not have HDMI. So why is this here and how can it be worth almost $100?

» haha

NICE!! (ironic) now we have XBOX 400$ + HDMI adapter 100$ + HDDVD player 200$ + WIFI 100$ = 800$...with only 20gb disc space and lets say you play live 4 years +200$.

ALL SUMS =1000$

Suddenly PS3 doesnt looks that expensive

» wait a sec..

hoe,

you have a choice with the 360...

please tell me why Microsoft(or sony) should force you or me or anyone to have any of the "features"

I don't really care for a 200-500 dollar HD-dvd player or blu ray...

by dollar - 2006-06-22 00:45
» well that is because..

You probably don't have an HD tv or heck, maybe you have never seen HDTV.. Once you have, you will want to see all movies in HD.

Whenever a movie is broadcast over the air on ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX like for the primtetime weekend movies they are always in HD and look amazing.

Then again you wouldn't know what I'm talking about..

» dear dumbass

I have an HDTV and have my 360 set to 1080i...and have HD channels...

But i don't want to be forced to buy a player i don't need right now.

"Then again you wouldn't know what I'm talking about.."

go ***** yourself.

» mm...

Youve got yourself a point, maybe i will not use them now but probably in a near future and i dont see those features being free on the XBOX360, they will still be more expensive to buy than the whole package (considering PS3 price doesnt reduces which i doubt)

» ps3 for 499

this makes the 499 model fully upgradable to the 599 version but it doesnt matter am getting the 599 version whether i need all the features or not, its nice to know that its there and you dont need to upgrade.
