If there's anyone in the industry with such vocal, unwavering loyalty and confidence in his brand, it's Aaron Greenberg. Leave it to Microsoft's director of product management to turn an interview into an elaborate sales pitch. Despite the Xbox 360's current position in the sales department, Greenberg remains absolutely confident that they will still come out on top.

Going into the holidays, Greenberg enumerates the Xbox 360's big guns in remaining competitive in the market:

What really separates Xbox 360 from our competition is the massive amount of exclusive blockbuster games and entertainment that you can only get on our system. Just on the games side alone we have exclusives like Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3, Left 4 Dead 2, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (retail standalone), GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (exclusive downloadable content), and a ton of Xbox LIVE Arcade titles like the recently launched Shadow Complex. Then you have to add in things like Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm and the ability to instantly watch movies in Instant on HD in 1080p with no disc or download required.

When asked about entering the holidays with similar price points with the PS3 and Wii, Greenberg isn't the least bit worried. "It is not a real concern to us - in fact, I can tell you to that when NPD releases September sales later today, we fully expect PlayStation 3 will come in as the console with the most units sold for the month." Greenberg, however, pointed out that taking one inning does not mean you've won the game. You have to deliver "across all nine innings," he said.

"What I can tell you is we remain confident that Xbox 360 will not only outsell PS3 for the full calendar year, but for this entire generation," he said. But according to him, the story is not all about the hardware sales. "ItÂ’s about the entire ecosystem and investing in the future; something we are very focused on." He goes on:

Sony, for example, has publicly noted that they lose money on every console they sell and with the price cut, they’re now losing even more money – so even with the PS3 in the market today at $299, you have to question if their business model is sustainable. I believe this generation Microsoft has really diversified the business model and the economics of the industry today is that our business about not just hardware, but also software and services.

I wish these idiots would just shut the ***** up already. Does anyone give two *****s what they have to say? You don't damn know the future, stop trying to predict it already, it's not like you guys ever predict correctly anyway. And I say that AS A PS3 FAN. And QJ, stop reporting on what they say, it's so annoying.

Rep of company says they'll squash competition, Rep of opposing company says "that's silly, we'll squash the competition"

and the battles continue.

Really... if you put any real weight into what an employee of a company has to say about their company... or their companies competition... you're foolish.

Look to Peter Moore... he spoke big words with Sega and how Sega would kill competition... until he switched over to Microsoft where... he spewed the same thing till he switched to EA... where he now spews the same thing for the line up of stuff. It's really all about who pays them more to talk up the company.... that's really it.

Sadly... the fanboys love this *****.

there is an example of drug abuse.

» wow

That was not a particularly dazzling line-up of exclusives. Forza and L4D are the only games on there that could possibly stimulate some new 360 sales. I dunno what they're going to do to turn the tide in their favor for the holidays. Maybe they have an ace up their sleeve, but as of now, it looks like Sony will take this one.

» Bwhahahahaha!!!!

I needed a good laugh today. This is a freaking joke. The 360 is just about done and they are going to have to rely on the gimmick Natal to save their console. Bye bye Xbox. It was a very short ride.

by phiyuku - 2009-10-17 08:48
» Um wouldn't facebook and Twitter

be on Sony's platform as well and maybe LastFM might work on browser but I'm not sure. Not only that but they got youtube oO. Only thing looking forward to is the GTA expansions since Halo ODST to me is just an overpriced expansion DLC. He got it right though Sony will most likely outsell during the Holidays but won't be enough to catch up this year since price cut was towards the end of the year but next year Sony should beat em out.

Now for Sony losing money on each console and that is not a sustainable business, in my view they don't throw away money to buy up exclusives like Microsoft does so I would have to question Microsoft's business model. If they are still making money after throwing all that money around I really have to congratulate them though.

» Not if they Start A Bannhamering

They are going to lose alot of people if they start banning XBL accounts + Xbox's since its the same price for a PSFree then buying a Xbox8 Dollars.

» Aaron Goldberg.....

i would happyly pay 1,000 dollars just to punch out his ugly grin from his face.

» Wii has stopped

outselling anything on a year to year basis but I think the Wii as a whole i this generation will have outsold both the Xbox and PS3. It's cause of its price point where every parent bought it for their little boy and girl because they don't know better and beleived the hype and cause of the price it would be a safe investment but next you know after about a month the amusement of controlling things with motion dies out and you notice you just bought a console with a bunch of shovelware.

by Musev - 2009-10-17 12:30
» ..

l4d probably better on pc (I assume the second one is comming to pc) still no reason to buy a faulty console over a better more reliable one

forza? meh.. isnt that just the 360s gran turismo?

halo? lol yeah okay, Im sure that game makes loads of people want a *****box

and gta's expansions are only exclusive for now.

the only thing the 360 has going for it now, is natal and that could still be complete ***** just like the wii turned out to be.

» WOOOOO!!!!

Felis must be happy that not only did his comment get demolished by replies, but he has 4.5 stars!

but yes, in this situation Felis is correct.

» Lets throw our billions of dollars at this

What else would this guy say people? I think our product sucks and 30% of our h/w is crap and we open our big MS money bag to screw over everybody that gets in our way?

No, he is paid to say this stuff. Who cares!

by rededbest - 2009-10-17 18:03
» PS3 was to expensive.

Since the PS3 price cut its been selling more then 360. Only reason why 360 has sold more units before cause it was cheaper then PS3.

This guy is full of it.

by narutosaiyan - 2009-10-17 19:00
» ok

it was supposed to be a joke. although most of the things you said count for 360 as well as wii

by JETFIRE007 - 2009-10-17 22:43
» What?!!!

Oh No He Didn't...

by YAMI ANUBIS X - 2009-10-19 05:51
» Wow, amazing

So many games in the line up. I mean damn thats alot of games.

Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3, Left 4 Dead 2, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City (retail standalone), GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony

GTA4 episodes from Liberty city, this is an expansion pack, NOT A NEW GAME!

Halo 3 ODST will only sell because it has the name HALO in it and also ODST was more like a 10 dollar expansion pack for Halo 3.

L4D2, you can get a better version on PC aka modify everything in it.

L4D2 is the only good game in that whole line up.

Xbox 360 arcade games exclusive? They use to be exclusive but PS3's getting the same arcade games under the name PSN.

I have to say, hes a sad little man, thinking this will do.

Okay heres the truth.

PS3 has free online, automatically has wifi built in, blu ray but then again whatever about blu ray.

Xbox 360 has, well it has gaming but the rest you have to buy, wifi adapter, 100 dollars, 120 gig, if you have arcade, its 150 dollars. 50 dollars for online gaming. From my point of view, Xbox 360 has won the title of most expensive next gen console now.

» Sony is loosing money on consoles...

...but you, my dear microsoft hamburgerican fat a$$ friend, you are loosing money on RROD (my x360 broke 4 times!!) so, the question is: Is your business model sustainable??

Are you planing to f**k things up with next Xbox, by applying another RROD (RROD2, RROD720) to your next console??

by Jmak01 - 2009-10-19 09:30
» Losing money on consoles is good for us!

The consumers benefit greatly from Sony's console losses, whereas Microsoft won't do the same for their consumers, they actually want to profit from broken consoles replacements - yeah great business model. The only game in that lineup I am bothered about is Left 4 Dead, whereas Sony seems to have much more AAA exclusives that I personally favour more than anything Microsoft has... LBP, Uncharted, GoWIII, KillZone2, Resistance 2, Motorstorm, Wipeout. I wish MS would stop reverting to numbers of consoles, as it's clear they have higher numbers due to 54 percent of consoles needing a replacement. Start talking about exclusive titles that I don't have any equivalent for on PS3, and a new unbreakable console, then we're talking. Right now it's all unsubstantiated crappy numbers that don't mean anything tangible, due to RROD.
