A timely price drop for Microsoft's Wireless Wheel |
Listed in: Xbox 360 Tags: Microsoft
Ó
The Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel has been out for some time now and it's gotten a lot of props because of its solid handles and force-feedback features. Yet, not everyone has this accessory mainly because of its steep price.Things have changed a little lately and the wheel's price has been marked down to US$ 129.99 - just in time for Forza Motorsport 2's launch later this week. We all know how much more fulfilling it is to drive a racing game with a toy like this and we definitely think that this one's a nice buy.
Here's the nitty-gritty on the wheel's features:
- Drive with confidence and zero loss of performance knowing that the wheel is powered by the same award winning wireless technology used in the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.
- High quality Force Feedback performance replicate the yanks and shudders that a race car driver feels while blasting around the oval.
- Real world automotive design with comfortable and intuitive ergonomics immerses you in the action with a uniquely authentic racing experience.
- Choose the Lap mount or the Table mount to race the way you want to.

I hate the idea of having to use a different wheel.... spending that extra money. Why can't I use my Logitech wheels (Driving Force Pro, G25) Microsoft? Greedy buggers.
Is it foolish to buy:
1)Xbox360
2)Wireless Wheel
3)Forza 2
simply to play that sim (or demo before its release)

Let’s compare the best X360 game and the best PS3 game (those which have been released so far); head to head; then talk about which console is superior to another at the end. Each category is worth 100 points unless mentioned. If it’s drawn, both get half points.
I spent much time to read about 10 different reviews on both games. Most sentences below are NOT my opinions (remember this). Most sentences are from reviews I read online.
[Epic’s Gears of War Vs. Evolution’s MotorStorm]
- Gameplay (300 pts): Epic adopted and improved Resident Evil 4’s point of view; then GoW’s over-the-shoulder revolutionized the gaming industry. Now, Sony’s best future games Uncharted Drake’s Fortune and Ratchet and Clank Future (when using weapons) both use GoW’s point of view. MotorStorm (MS) is a dominator in racing. Winner: Drawn
- Graphics (300): GoW = best shooter, MS = best racer. Winner: Drawn
- Main character (200): Marcus Fenix is as memorable as Halo’s Master Chief. MS’ buggy, rally car, mudplugger, and racing trucks are ground-breaking. Winner: Drawn
- Average review score: GoW got 94 from 172 different game related publications; MS got 85 from 126 publications; many gamers bought GoW because it got extremely high review scores.
Winner: GoW
- Level of Appealing (Fun Factor) (200): GoW has deep tactical play. MS revolutionized racing genre. Winner: Drawn
- Online Modes (Multiplayer) (300): MS’ multiplay is brutal. GoW should have supported at least 8 versus 8 multiplay (4 Vs. 4 is just sub-standard). Winner: MS
- Single-player (SP): Winner: Drawn
- Weapons (200): GoW’s Lancer Assault Rifle (the gun with chainsaw) is fantastic (the powerful feeling; sound, lighting, and decal effects). MS’ weapon... hmm, you can punch other players; you can push away others over cliffs; intense melee car brawl. Winner: Drawn
- Music & Sound Effects (300): GoW’s sound is superb (especially guns and explosion sounds are mind-blowing). MS has fantastic music & sounds, too. Winner: Drawn
- Longevity (Replay Value) (300): Winner: Drawn
- Technical Advancement (200): So many game reviews online say that MS is technologically more advanced than Gears or Resistance. Winner: MS
- General Concept & Originality: MS revolutionized the racing genre (before: static, boring, lame; after: dynamic, fantastic, intense pure fun). Winner: MS
- Character Animation: Both games offer silky smooth movement of units. Winner: Drawn
- (NPC’s) A.I.: Winner: Drawn
- Atmosphere (Presentation) (200): GoW’s sci-fi movie like mood is all over the places. MS’ cinema like mood. Winner: Drawn
- Interface (attention to detail, how polished is the final game?): Winner: Drawn
- Overall Impressiveness (300): In general, GoW even deeply impresses Sony fanboys (vise versa).
Winner: Drawn
Finally, MS won by some huge margin.
- MS’ total score: 1900 points
- GoW’s total score: 1400 points
