360 repairs slowing down?

The guys down at Kotaku have heard what may prove to be very unsettling news for some Xbox 360 owners. They heard that repairs for Xbox 360s (red-ringed and otherwise) have increased to as much as six weeks.

Halo 3 - Image 1

An increase of Xbox 360s being given up for repairs caused return time to increase. Result: some 360 owners won't be able to get their consoles back from repairs in time for Halo 3's release next month.

If rumors prove true, this presents a dilemma for 360 owners whose consoles are acting up. Having their consoles repaired might delay them from playing Halo 3 when it comes out, but not having their 360s repaired would inevitably lead to the same thing. The only solution that presents itself is to have it repaired and hope for the best.

Personal Experience

I actually had to send my 360 in for a redlight repair bout 4 weeks ago and got it back bout 2 weeks ago. I was quite suprised since they said it would take 4-6 weeks to get it back, also it was a brand new 360 manufactured 2 weeks before i received it.

mine died and I cant send it in because I am "out of region" as I was told on the phone, I have no choice but to buy a new one and its going to cost me 1,500$ where I live, I should be able to get it in time for halo 3

Well

From the two guys who took two weeks recently....it seems that this is as accurate as the halowars demo comming out on monday... Damn QJ you are on the ball lately ! not...

Just..

dude send it to someone you trust and have them send it to microsoft. just tell whoever sends it in to pretend to be you and tell them you moved. I do think that is a load of crap that they are pulling. I dont know anywhere that you can buy a 360 that cant get mail. you will probably have to wait a really long time but you'll get it back eventually. Sorry for your troubles man best of luck.

1 week

i had to send mine in about 3 weeks ago and got it back in 1 week, so i don't think this info is very accurate

trashy reporting at it's worst

Who writes this crap? This is the article from Kotaku in its entirety. "Xbox 360 Repairs Slow to Crawl Rumor has it that a spike in Xbox 360 returns, both valid and not so much, have lead to an increase in the return time for repaired Xbox 360s. I've heard that the turnaround time for Xbox 360 repairs has skyrocketed to as long as six weeks and if you do the math, that could mean that some loyal 360 fans may be console-less when the Halo 3 launches. Talk about bad juju." Wow, no source is named, nobody who claims to be affected is named, and that's all there is to this s*itty article. A new low!

Got my xbox in january during the sales, its been in for repairs for over 2 months of that time -.- WTF is wrong with there production

I love QJ

Just when you think they cant get any worse they come out of nowhere with a gem like this...eventhough they post crap articles they also post them weeks later than the other sites... by the time an article makes it to qj it has already been refuted a week prior on other sites

The Article Is Correct

I have sent in a total of three 360s to be fixed, the first one took about two weeks, the second took about two and a half, and the third, which went in about two months ago, took an entire month to be fixed.

lies

They must not like you cause i sent mine in about 5 weeks ago, then 3 days later got an email that they got it, then 5 days later got an email saying they shipped a one with a different serial number, then 4 days later due to weekend i got my xbox back, manufactured only 7 days prior to when i got it back, so means they made it and 3 days later sent it out, i also kept my faceplate and they shipped me a new one!!! YAY

and

you still come back to this site.
by - 2007-08-29 16:07:23
Yeah..

Bottom line.. get a PS3! Same shi* and it wont break on you. 360 sucks in japan so it'll be a matter of time before they begin to get less and less games from jap developers. I love my 360, but I am very dissapointed with microsoft rushing a crappy unit to the market. My Ps3 replaced my 360. My 2 cents
by - 2007-08-29 21:19:07
No sh*t?

They fixed the problem. Most people who got faulty units already had it break down, and the new units aren't faulty. Of course, the old units still on shelves waiting to be bought may break down, but it still stands to reason the repairs are going to slow down.

im scraed

I sent my 360 in about a week ago i relly hope its back for halo 3... do you guys think it will eback in time?

Good point

Especially when Australia and Japan are pretty big gaming countries and yet there falling in both. If MS ever wants to win the war this gen, they need to make there system appeal to those area's cause thats where the business picks up and thats why they lost last gen. I felt they have rushed there system, also they need more diversity in there game line-up like PS3, but it won't happen. I guess we know who's going to have a better business stand point in the coming years and it won't be MS, Sony and nintendo are doing great. I can't wait to see how the 360 fares against the leading console Wii in the coming months haha.

total bull*****

total bull*****... i sent my console away for repair, and less than 24 hours after it was received by MS, it was dispatched back to me... i should have it by friday... less than 2 weeks total waiting time!
