Following a report from a few days ago where we found out that 60% of PS3 owners never even heard of Blu-ray, this one just takes the cake. According to a survey done by research firm Frank N. Magid Associates, 30% of Xbox 360 owners haven't even heard of Xbox Live Arcade.

The study called in 1,800 households, 149 of which had an Xbox 360. A hundred fifty households might be a skinny number to base earth-shattering theories on, but we shall report their findings nonetheless:
  • 42% of the 360 owners have used XBLA but are only going for free games
  • 28% of the 360 owners have used XBLA but have actually bought games
  • 30% of the 360 owners haven't heard of XBLA
That's a pretty sizeable chunk. And to think that, all this time, people in our comments keep complaining/reasoning out that Xbox 360 is just all about online capabilities, when we have here a 30% ratio of 360 owners who don't even know about its online capabilities in full. If anything, this 30% represents the fact that there are some people out there who are pretty much content with an Xbox 360 even without the XBLA.

» its not that they are stupid

this was a poll they had not to long ago and it was

1) Bout games from xbox live arcade

2) Tryed the trial games

3) Never heard of xbox live arcade

they think that they are really funny so they choose 3. And it is hard not to know what it is because there are a lot of commercial when you log on to the 360 dash board and you get email that says if you register your xbox 360 you get 3 arcade games for free

most of the xbla games are boring or extremely repetitive. Add on the fact that you have to pay for them just makes it ridiculous. Geometry Wars was the shining example, everybody knows that game and where it came from if they had more xbla titles like that more people would know about it.

GT was cool back in the day, but its just another arcade racer compared to forza. GTA rules, sants row is a knock off. Socam and GR are the same, but i wouldnt put rainbow six in the same category, thats all original. One thing you dont get is that Sony is the king of un-originality. FF1000, Monster Hunter 8, MGS again. Go look at the japan most wanted list, its funny as *****. Only the Xbox has a game which is not a sequel. Hmmmm... yep microsoft is unoriginal alright... /sarcasm

Thing is, it didnt state how many of those 30% DONT have the internet on their 360.

Using figures to match what the investigator wants to see - pretty low.

They're a lot better than any of the PSN offerings. Prince of Persia and Marble Blast Ultra are pretty good, as are the many arcade classics.

hey is game glitches in a xbox 360 normal? i wanted to know cause i just bought the 360 a few days ago.

by mr popodom - 2007-08-14 00:41
» yes

Good point this is stupid more than 30% dont have xbox live so this means that a good chunk of 360 owners who dont even have online still know what arcade is

» Survey Not So Reliable

The 30% I can see as maybe people in the house that never really play XBOX but say they do just because they have played it sometimes with the owner of the console who happens to live with them or something.

by .... - 2007-08-14 04:04
» And none of you ...

Seem to realize this poll comes from a group of a few thousand owners, NOT ALL 11 MILLION 360 OWNERS, AND NOT ALL 4 MILLION PS3 OWNERS!

I mean come on, 6k people? Thats like saying out of 6k 360 consoles, less than 1% have RROD. Of course the numbers are going to change, its not mass scale!

And like another poster said, how many of those 6k people have online? *****, just over Half are registered Live! users! And as for the PS3 .... as well as Blu-ray is doing, I highly doubt only 40% of the 4 million user base knows of PS3's Blu-ray player.

» its prbobly true,

please when you do these surveys try to survey the right way

by ivr56 - 2007-08-14 05:39
» reply to dude

i agree on the first two games you say but Rainbow Six first came on PC before the PS2 was invented.

Ghost Recon first came out as a first person shooter not a 3rd person shooter

get you facts straight

» This means zip

Wow, what a BS poll. First off, can you verify that they used only the 150 households that own a 360 in their findings? The posting doesn't clarify for me if the 1650 households without a 360 are in the mix as well.

Either way you can't get true figures off of this. First, it could be a kid that is replying to the survey and as someone said above saying they don't know what XBLA is trying to be funny. Second, you would need to also query if these consumers have highspeed internet (however there is one arcade game disc out on the market) just to see if they would have much interface with XBLA.

The numbers are just to low as well for the number of "360 owners" to base this on. I will also point out that XBLA just did around 25 million - I would say that loads of people are well aware of it!

On top of that, this article saying that 30% of 360 owner's not knowing that there is an XBLA is just taking the cake is full of crap. Comparing this to the PS3 consumers of which 60% didn't know about the Blu-Ray is taking the cake - NOT the 360. To pay $600 for a machine and not know that is plays Blu-Ray movies (when it says it on the box, and when Sony pushes it as a selling point, and when most media articles always mention the Blu-Ray feature on the PS3) is taking the cake, the pie, and the entire kitchen!

Those are the idiots my friends.

by yoyo - 2007-08-14 05:53
» yeap

Not even a few thousand owners my friends. The survey only hit 150 out of 1800 households that have a 360. That means that of all the people they asked this question of only 150 of them had a 360 - this survey group is a joke and are idiots!

» About cakes....

33% of your xbox's die... out of what was those numbers you said like 6 million? so thats like 2 million peices of ***** as far as i know. Though i can hear you'd ague that they didnt acutally find out how many of the 6 million sold broke but it must be a lot since no offical will release the number right?

This may make me sound like a fan boy to ps3 so ill add this.... maybe those 60% of the people really just love ALL the games out for ps3.... haha or they are doing those pointless tests on how long a ps3 can play in a freezer or in a hut tub or some bullshiiit like that.

anyway i think people are stupid in general... and has nothing to do with buying something from sony or microsoft though id say microsoft's OS are just at bad as failing as the xbox 360 seems to be.

Have fun fighting a stupidity war becuase everyone justs keeps proving how stupid each other are with pointless arguements.

» HAHAHAHA

Noobs.

99% of these people who take the surveys are from the US. Of these people, 60% don't have broadband connections if you were to take a general demographic of anonymous AMERCIANS. So in conclusion...

Half of the people who chose A and *especially* B are people who "think they're cool"... and

People who chose C are people who are honest.

LMAO

RFoM, MotorStorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3, Rainbow Six vegas, Darkness, Oblivion. idk they look like games to me dont you think. dont act like 360 doesnt add multiplats to there list and most of those games were made by 3rd parties which making the second installment on the PS3. Graw 2, Saints Row 2, Condemned 2, Dead Rising 2 do you get it now.
