When you're the big boss of a major third party publisher that's responsible for some of the biggest and best-looking franchises in gaming, people listen to what you have to say about gaming technology. Speaking with the Financial Times, Square Enix big man Yoichi Wada shared a few words on the motion control technology surrounding the 7th gen consoles. His take? Wada-sama seems unimpressed.

Present game machines already have a lot of functions: they are a network terminal, a Blu-ray or DVD player, and a gaming machine. Compared to these three pillars, the (new motion) controllers are quite limited, so the impact may be small. They are an extension of the gaming function,” Wada said. For Project Natal, however, Wada seems more interested, saying that the user interface could become the new standard.

As for the Wii, Wada believes that a new one is coming by 2011, possibly equipped with technology from Natal and PS3's motion controller, and perhaps new technology of its own.

Small impact, huh? That's what Wada-san says. What say you?
