Yoichi Wada: New Nintendo console by 2011 |
Ó
While everyone's been busy assuming and forecasting when the next next-gen cycle will happen, and who will instigate it, with most of them placing their bets on either Sony or Microsoft, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada is putting his on Nintendo's corner.Talking to Financial Times, the Square Enix bigman expressed his opinion that we might be seeing a new console from the family-friendly Nintendo as early as 2011. Furthermore, he is of the belief that the new Nintendo console will be at par with Microsoft's and Sony's consoles in terms of functionality, and that it may, in fact, be going with a new controller, entirely different from the much-waggled Wii Remote.
Despite all the hype regarding the new motion-controllers presented by MS and Sony at this year's E3, Wada opts to stress that these controllers will not necessarily be the selling point of the consoles, precisely because it is quite difficult to tailor-fit games for it.
Present game machines already have a lot of functions: they are a network terminal, a Blu-ray or DVD player, and a gaming machine. Compared to these three pillars, the [new motion] controllers are quite limited, so the impact may be small. They are an extension of the gaming function.

No offense to Nintendo but their consoles lacked hardcore games. Seriously, how long can Zelda and Mario hold up that franchise? Even with great graphics a Zelda game and Mario game will always look cartoonish and won't really shine in terms of showing the system's full power.
The pricing will also have to be perfect. $199 is the best bet that they can sell some consoles.
MH3 - Hardcore and gr8 graphics for the Wii.
(Better style than a lot of PS3/XBOX360 games.)
Its lazy developers that see the Wii as a cash cow for casual audiences.
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has said he expects Nintendo to release a new Wii console by 2011.
Functionality of this new hardware, Wada told the Financial Times, will be more like that of the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and it will possibly come bundled with a different type of controller.

but if you think that Zelda and Mario is all the Wii has to offer, your head is simply up your own *****.
I don't believe i have to keep saying this.
M-A-N-H-U-N-T-T-W-O.
Or I could just play the PS2-PSP versions while using uncensored cheats.
MH3 is going to be great, and a great title for the wii. But with the new motion controller for the ps3 around the corner Capcom will probably port it over after a little while. When stuff gets ported at a later date, it often gets added content. Personally i would much rather it on the ps3.
