Jeff Bell of Xbox - Image 1At Canada's own game show X07, canada.com managed to get an interview with Jeff Bell, Xbox Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing. In the interview with Bell, he made some indirect announcements, and by the end of the interview talked about the advantages of having the Nintendo Wii in the market.

Some quick announcements from the interview first. First of all Canada will be getting movies and TV content in the fall. Also Alan Wake, Fable 2, and Halo Wars will be shown after the Holidays in time for their spring release.

When the interview touched on Grand Theft Auto IV, Bell expressed how they have a strong line-up to compensate for its absence. BioShock and Mass Effect in particular, will benefit from not having to compete with it.

When asked whether the market has room enough for three consoles he answered that the Wii's presence is certainly beneficial. He describes how the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 are very different experiences, but if the Wii attracts new audiences then that's good for everyone. Bell explained:

We are very proud of how dominant of our graphics and network capabilities are, but there are other strengths that the Wii have to offer like the younger IP's and the Wii mote which makes is accessible to all ages. I think there's more than enough room for everyone, but we definitely want to win. It is our ambition to win this generation and we've never been more prepared than right now. Lets be honest. There's only two major franchises that are talked about not appearing on our platform: Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid.

That is because

Nintendo never thought about releasing their other stuff for other consoles. The is doing well, but the Wii has an appeal that the 360 does. I don't see 60 year-old ladies playing the 360. Without having some kid make them. If that happens within the next 10 years, someone tell me.

THIS IS THE same guy who put millions of dollars into xbox stock. i would not trust this man from microsoft. microsoft doesn't make games it only a plublisher not a developer company. other companies do so like bungie, valve, capcom , and none from microsoft. I Can't to play gears of war with extra content none on xbox, on my New Imac, hahahaha

ha

Only two franchises? Did he forget: Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, God of War? There's much more than that as well, but it's like he's saying they don't need MGS or FF.

lmao noob

FF and MGS, the franchise that define the PlayStation brand. Yes, GT does, too...but now it's in a very saturated market esp. w/ all the crummy racers like PGR, Forza, NFS, Sega Rally, Ridge Racer, Burnout, Collin McRae, etc. GoW has sold under 2 million, so it's not really anticipated. There will be no Kingdom Hearts sequel, only spinoffs as Tetsoya Nomura says. Haunt.
