Team Matrix (I hear they're old hands at PS2 modding) is reportedly working on delivering a solution for the storage problems that a lot of Wii owners have complained about since Nintendo isn't really doing anything concrete about it yet.

The solution here is called WiiZii, a plug and play mod that lets you connect an external HDD via SATA to your Wii. This is supposed to open the way to "super quick loading" of game backups and homebrew apps by way of a menu. If this works with Virtual Console games then I'm definitely sold.

WiiZii also comes with 2MB of on-board memory and an updateable firmware. Word is that it also works on all Wii versions. Check out the pic for a look at the prototype. The final product will be much smaller.

» y'know

I wish somebody would just enable USB Flash Drive support. I don't see why Nintendo hasn't already, and, heck, maybe if somebody else did it they could present it to Ninty and they could put it in the next firmware update.

I know it isn't just as easy as saying "Let there be USB Support" and there was, but it still doesn't sound like that dounting of a task.

Heck, if I knew how to go about doing it, I would have started on it already lol.

Is there some kind of USB support thing out there somewhere? All these homebrew apps support USB, why hasn't anyone incorporated it into the firmware?

I have a dead drive wii sitting in my basement waiting for this! I will be ALL over it the day it comes out

» usb support

USB flash drive support has been around for months. Try some of the apps in the homebrew channel and you will see they support USB and SDHC cards too.

I install all my WADs from a USB stick.

I have got a Wii with a dead drive already lined up for when this gets released. I will jsut have to get a F'ing huge HDD to put all the ISOs on it. Cant wait.

» USB Support

They have enabled it, but what you're forgetting is the USB port is only 1.1, and not 2.0. You can't do much with something that was designed primarily as extra ports for controllers.

Epic fail btch!! Why don't you try supporting some of the wiiware developers/virtual console titles and actually buy those games you're pirating you fking broke-@$$-dik-less-cum-douche.

» NakedFaerie, with a name like that you must love the c0ck!

Nakedfckface, maybe if you kept your credit cards and pin-thin-d1ck out of your wii drive it might still be working, then again you're such a ***** EPIC FAILure that I'm surprised you find time to play the wii what with all the multiple rapings your Dad gives you all day.

» buy Wii games?

I'd rather not.

Maybe if there was a 75% price reduction on all Wii games it would be worth it.

I'm not rewarding developers that make crap games.

» interesting

I'm curious how that is going to fit inside the Wii.

My D2Cpro9 barely fit.

» harddrive space

I've only bought 3 WiiWare titles and I'm already out of storage space on my Wii.

It's EXTREMELY frustrating. The Wii should have had at LEAST a Gig of Memory. 512 is RIDICULOUS. Completely, utterly ridiculous. And let's not forget to mention how the SD slot only can read 2GB cards max.

I know Nintendo is probably wanting a solid state drive for the Wii (let's hope it has at least 16 gigs) or the next incarnation of it, so guess we're just FUBAR for now.

oh and btw-- HIMFan commented the Wii is only USB 1.1 but you're wrong, both USB ports are 2.0 all the way. Might want to get your facts straight.

Your insults seem to have no logical backing or real point. Good job.

Well... you should get your facts straight too, as the wii has some homebrew that supports sdhc card, which is 8gb+
