Kang Hee Won - Image 1It looks like console makers one-upping each other is the name of the game in South Korea's GSTAR event. After Microsoft's statement of the Xbox 360 doing much, much better compared to Sony's PlayStation 3, it's Sony's turn to bash the competition by saying that the Wii's popularity is short term.

Sony Computer Entertainment of Korea executive Kang Hee-Won said that the Wii's main concept of "fun" wouldn't sell much in Korea, where parents have the final say when it comes to using the living room TV, so playing the living room in most Korean households is out of the question. Hee-Won continued:

"Game players put the PS3 in their room like with a PC monitor, and I can't imagine those types of players putting the Wii in their rooms to play alone. Also, when you're coming home tired, are you really going to play Wii Boxing by yourself?"

Competition sniping aside, SCEK has some special services in store for Korean gamers, such as their Video-on-Demand system where people can download movies and keep it for three days before they are erased.
