Ó

Google Earth, one of the more pointless but eternally fun applications out there, has just been given the Wii treatment. WiiEarth is a new program from PaulWagener and, like Google Earth, puts the world in the palm of your hands. In a Wiimote, no less. Here's a sample video to give you an idea of what it does:

Bear in mind this might give your Wii problems. It can cause it to hang, it may fail to load data, stuff like that. These problems may be solved by resetting your Wii. For more info, you can visit the source link below. Here's the control scheme to get you started on the app:
  • +,-: zoom
  • A: Grab World
  • B: Zoom into world
  • D-pad: Move map
  • 2: Change image source (Google Maps -> Live Hybrid -> Live maps)
  • Home: Return
And here's the changelog:
  • Removed Google images (captcha problem)
  • Added OpenStreetMap images
  • Way faster downloading of tiles
  • disappearing cursor problem fixed (since latest libogc was used)
  • Cool new icon (thanks Wilsoff)
  • Other cool stuff
