WiiCR v0.2.9.3 and Ocean theme v1.3 released

WiiCR, the media player solution for the Nintendo's next-gen console created by the WiiCR team (Jacob Jarick, Navarr, Andrew Hughes, Johnex, Vibez, sLAUGHTER, and Jeroen Wijering), has been updated again. This app acts as a streaming media server and transcodes nearly any video file to a suitable flv for an embedded flash player. It also allows browsing of the remote file system to view videos (avi/xvid/divx/mpeg/wmv/etc), text files, jpgs, and play mp3s.

WiiCRThe changelog for WiiCR v0.2.9.3 includes:
  • Added vob support
  • Prev and Next buttons for image viewing
  • Updated aurions flv player + his new vidplay.tpl
  • Supports changing of video segments
In addition, the team behind WiiCr has updated its Ocean theme to v1.3 with the following features:
  • Big changes to vidplay.tpl
  • New splash page (Will only display once per day)
  • Updated config.tpl

I don't know how limited this program is, other than the FAQ on their site, but it doesn't sound like you can play large videos effectively. I believe they site limitations for video over 10 minutes. That needs to be solved before this becomes overly useful.



From what I understand, you cannot play videos full-screen yet either. That is another strong limitation.



Is there other software out there that can get around these two limitations?

» opera beta issues?

my understanding is that these are issues due to limitations of the opera beta - true full screen can't happen while the opera tool bar is fixed to the bottom of the screen, and the video length limitation is due to opera's flash implementation. the wiicr team has coded in something to work around this limitation for now.
