Wii homebrew developer waninkoko has released an update to one of his more popular programs, the Custom IOS Downgrader. If you missed the previous releases, this program allows you to downgrade your Wii's firmware.

I'm not exactly sure what the changes in this version are, as no changelog was provided. Although waninkoko did provide a short (although vague) description of what's new, the Googled translation was mangled up enough so as the changes are still vague. Still, it's what we have to go on.

Here is the Google-translated message from waninkoko. If you can provide a better translation of the original Spanish for us (follow the source link below), please drop a yell in the comments section.

This new version is quite improved. First download all the data to the NAND and install them once they are downloaded. Thereby avoiding the downgrade to stay half a failure to connect to the Internet.

In addition, the CB downgradea / mine (applications to run games GC.

» C'mon already!

Make a custom firmware that allows you to boot backups! The Wii isn't worth buying games for and niether is it worth to get a modchip. The only thing that's worth to do with it is to play backups totally friggin' free!

yes, this makes it "feel" a lot safer for the downgrade. it is much more efficient now, and since it double checks the files BEFORE it does anything its next to impossible for it to brick anything.
