"Wii will output in 480p." PERIOD. |
Ó

People make honest "mitsakes" all the time - in "speling", in "grammer", etc. Now, when we reported earlier that UK's "Nintendo: The Official Magazine" mentioned that the Wii would output in 720p, some of you have commented that this was entirely false (despite it coming from an THE official magazine for Ninty). And good for you for having spotted the said error.
oblongmouth even had this to say: "Who'd have thought an magazine officially licenced by Nintendo would get so many things wrong? How strange." He has a point, as do the lot of you. But publications do make mistakes from time to time. As TheTeej says: "To be fair, multiple publications stated the Stand was the Wii power supply."
As soon as the rumors of a 720p Wii spread like wildfire across the web, Nintendo was quick on the uptake and squashed them down hard by admitting it was a simple error. Their statement: "Wii will output in 480p." They even stressed that they would release peripherals like the component cable at retail to achieve the 480p.
So there you have it folks. Just a clear-up. We make mitsakes all teh times. Erors like these are easily forgiven.

480p ahahahaha
another reason not to buy it...
im sure it can reach 720p and 1080i as the xbox manages to do it.
just depends if the game developers want to implement that into there games.
my TV is PAL, so i wouldn't see any diffrence between 720p 1080i/p and 480p.
Why should i care about those stupid things, when you can't see any diffrence?!
4/5 or even more of all ppl here in good old germany still don't have a HDTV.
And I for myself am only going to buy one, when my nice bigscreenTV is broken. (so in ~5-10 years i think)
YOU made a mistake in spelling yourself. It's grammAr.
I think it's a software limit. A firmware update could make it possible though...
Who knows...
I buy Nintendo for all the anime flavoured stuff like Zelda, which will look amazing in 480p, nice bright solid crisp colours.
i dont have a hd in my room which is were my wii is going to be so i could careless and im not in it for the grapics if i was ps3 here i come but its the game play that counts :)
Have any of you played Wind Waker in progressive? I made the mistake of trading mine a while ago, but I recently found it on clearance for $8 and played through it again, this time in 480p- beautiful. I have a CRT HDTV and an upconverted 480p signal looks very acceptible to me. If we get a bunch of games on a level quality-wise with RE4 with progressive output, I'll definately be in happy "N" land...
it is possible to go up to HDTV resolution not from firmware updates, since component cables don't use firmware updates. But, it is entirely possible to achieve the higher resolution through adapter cables, so technically it doesn't even matter what resolution as long as you actually choose to play. The other stuff is up to everybody else
who cares about hd stuff... at least u play a good game dumbass
i have never seen a GC game in progressive. when wii comes out i will buy the cable and play all my GC in progressive scan. people say the diff is significant. so with wii and pro-scan, the wii will deff have great graphix to me.
i want to know which cable brings the best stuff. the component cable or the D-cable. i heard that the Japanese prefer the D-cable byt i dont know why. please someone tell me. i whant the best experience on wii.
that was the joke. Notice that mistakes and spelling are wrong too.
