Wii box - Image 1If you're one of the many Nintendo Wii owners who don't - or have learned not to - rely on the Wii Weather Channel the way some of us rely on the Wii News Channel, you may be in for a pleasant surprise. It's been reported that the Weather Channel's issues seem to have been fixed.

Unlike the Wii News Channel which is updated every couple of hours by the Associated Press, the Wii Weather Channel used to be almost always wrong. It became notorious for poor performance, often caught napping with either flimsy or late reports.

Weathernews, the site that powers the Wii Weather Channel, seems to have pulled itself together lately. There have been no announcements either from it or Nintendo, but Nintendojo says the Channel is now working well. Real-time conditions in key locations around the globe are available on demand all day long, with updates occurring more frequently now at the rate of about once every two hours.

We're delighted to hear about this development. Here's hoping that more useful channels will be introduced soon with up-to-date content flowing in steadily.
