With the cell structure I guess it is no big surprise that the PS3 will be a huge console. But seeing it next to a Wii makes it seem too big all over again. Personally I don't have the space for the PS3 next to my TV and stereo.

I can't believe it. I know people who say "PS3 is too big, I prefer Wii" are already Nintendo fans who would buy anything from Ninty, but really this makes me remember one day we were doing a kind of 'poll' with the different perspectives of old gamers, casual current gamers and people who didn't give a ***** about consoles.

That's what Nintendo wants. Not the 'Revolution' or the 'salvation' of the games. Not even a good and balanced machine. Only a small thing to sell to people who doesn't give a ***** about games, while the gamers will have to pay that enjoying GC graphics for the next 5 years (if they don't make Wii Advance in 2008, which wouldn't surprise me at all).
I'm just picturing what the actual ps3 would look like in comparison.. .damn it's a sexy machine..

Her and most of Japan. Anyone who lives in a highrise doesn't have unlimited space and the shrinkage of an appliance here and there does make a difference. Also ever considered the difficulty involved in taking the PS3 over to a friends house the PS3 is both large and heavy making leaving it at home seem all the sweeter an option. Heck I even leave my GameCube home sometimes because its too big. There is nothing less fun than NOT having a Halo 2 LAN game because the other XBOX didn't fit in the LAN bag.

Yes, but we will be enjoying them, so does it really matter. GameCube level graphics didn't stop me from enjoying my GameCube, and I missed the part where PS2 owners couldn't enjoy their games because the competing consoles' games looked better.
Graphically RE4 was the GameCube's swansong and to be honest even if the Wii is only 10% better than that, I'm sure a large portion of gamers could live with that for more than just 5 years. You could say similar statements about the PS3 and no rumble, or the 360 and its lack of free online. If graphics were that important the PS2 would have failed and the DS with it, but none of those things ever happened, so maybe you need to reasses how you judge your games.

We could be amazed and happy with SNES graphics in the 16 bits era and that doesn't mean they would have made us happy during another 5 years during the PSX-N64 era. And don't compare the difference between PS2 and the other two with the difference between Wii and its rivals in graphics, because this time it's a whole generation. *****ing hell, the damned thing doesn't even have digital output or HD support. XTS lacking free online? Hahaha, good one. Let's see first if what the other two do deserves to be called 'online'. At least Sony tried hard with the PS2 and now have that experience, something that Nintendo can't say.
Wii is a machine of the past generation with a new controller. It's like taking the Slim PS2 and sell it again with a controller with motion and position sensors. Whatever Wii is succesful or not, there will be Wii Advance in 2 years, because Wii's technology is simply not enough. The only difference is that, if Wii is succesful, people will be happy of having a Wii Advance (except for those who expected 4 years of new games for their Wii) and if it's not, Nintendo will lose more prestige than Sega did.

I hated how Nintendo marketed the GC as a itsy bitsy thing compared to other consoles... If they do this time around they'll be total hippocrites... Because Nintendo always says it's about the gameplay and all that junk, but if they use this and an offensive marketing ploy, I will be mad... Because whatever console is bigger or smaller, it's the one that make me want the games that wins me over... I'd Choose a Xbox over a GC (have both) even though it's as big as a bathtub (exageration) because I preffered many of the games...

Does anyone know, if the psu is internal in the Wii? Because we already know that PS3 has the psu inside, and that is the primary reason it is so big.

We usally never bother to consider the psu (if it is external) when we compare the console cases. And for the most part, the comparison of just the cases, is enough.
But if you want to be fair the whole console (console + psu if it is external) should be in the comparison. The psu is a necessary part, for the console to power on. Yes, the controller is also necessary part of the console if you want to use the console, but i'm not talking about the usage. Even if you can't see the brick of xbox2, that doesn't mean that the brick doesn't consume space somewhere. The PStwo is extremely small, but it has a big external psu.

rember back in the day when all the sony and nintendo fanboys were like "dont buy a xbox because its so big" and "ahhhh my xbox fell on my baby and crushed it!!!" now the ps3 is the biggest console so all the sony fanboys have of coursed changed their opinions to "size doesnt matter, its the power" but wasnt the xbox the most powerful, and the biggest last gen and you hated it because it was big?

its already been mentioned a few times that the lower half holder of the wii is its power supply, so in the pic u actually see both the console and the psu for the wii. making it a hell of alot smaller then the ps3
i just have to say, for all of u who are dissing the ps3 about its size and those of u who are calling the wii a joke, SHUT THE !@#$ UP! the truth is, when u compare them both on the technical level, every sane person will say that ps3 is superior. the only real reason why people prefer the wii is because it's 400 dollars cheaper. if u have the 600 dollars, get the ps3, if not, get the wii.

I'm a big Wii fan but don't get your hopes up. The Wii will not compete with the 360 and PS3 head on. We should see better that Gamecube and maybe better than Xbox graphics but still trying to compete in a power struggle is not a good idea. The Gamecube was the second most power console and no one cared. Nice try but lets not get over-hyped. We just don't what it can really do yet...

The point of graphics to help immerse a one into the gaming world. There is only so much one can express with visuals alone. If the Mona Lisa was a photo would it have been any better? If Toy Story went for photo realism would it have been a better movie? No. In fact Toy Story may have been worst, but I'll get to that latter.

Which looks better? The woman in B right? Is there any thing the woman in B can do other than look a little better than the man in A. No. Image A comes from a Gamecube game and B from a PS3 game. As you know Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube. As we can now conclude, the Wii's graphics will be "good enough". It can represent what ever it needs to create an entertaining experience.

The system need the right balance in price, power durability (the real reason for lack of hard drive). The key is not to be better that MS and Sony but to off a system cheap a different enough that they don't really compete. Look at the DS and PSP. There not even really competing. The PSP is more of a ipod competitor then one to the DS. The PS3 is no different. It's a computer not a game system. It and the Wii have very different goals.
Drop a PSP. Now drop a DS. Which would survive? Drop a HDD. Now drop a flash cart. Which one has a higher chance of surviving? The Wii my be after a different crowd but Nintendo can not abondon the children market. For this reason Wii has to be cheap and durable. You don't want it to look like this

2nd My friend had a ps2 that instead of haveing all the blue dots flyin around, had ONE big blue dot... the fan was working so he opend it and burnned his hand on it! with it unplugged. We open and closed the thing after ponding it and it worked after a lot of grinding noise and clicks. The ame kept freezing but continuing..... We went to grab somethin to eat later on and he found one of his eggs had cracked... since the ps2 was in its last moments of life we took the egg and opend it up... onto the open ps2. It kooked almost instantly! We could not stop lookin at the thing! It coooked so fast you thought you had your element on max! After it finished cooking He took a bite out of it... now i have never seen someone eat a egg that fast before. He commented it was the best egg he will ever had...
So on a final note i have never haerd of anythin going wrong with a nintendo system...and besides i dont have a HD tv and know no one that does...so wats the point!?

Yes. I enjoy Nintendo but that does not mean I am a fanboy. I wanted Ps2 last gen (which I have). I'm not going to argue who is and isn't a fanboy.
You do have the blu-ray point on your side. But will people buy a game system for just it's features. The answer is of course. But we can't tell if either system is going to be better yet. But technically, yes the ps3 will have more power, so it will be better. I will say power is not everything, a system can be better without the most power. But we can't judge what the wii is capable of yet because Nintendo hasn't released the specs, everywhere you read is just an assumption of it. Just because it's the weakest system does not mean it will have the capabillites to have beautiful graphics.
Also, Nintendo does have some cool features on it's system like the internet browser, IM service, optional DVD, Virtual Console, Wiiconnect24, Backwards compactibility, DS connectivity, Parental controls, SD card for memory, holding Pictures and music, and of course, its controller. That seems like a pretty good deal for under $250.
I want the wii because the motion sensing and games look fun, and it has cool features. The cheap price is only a good sign for me, it does not mean I want the system only for it's low price. I'd be willing to pay a lot more than the price they are offering.
I think that a lot of people will buy the system because it's cheap. But you see, people would not buy the system if it didn't have good games and a fun way to play them. People will buy it because it's fun at a cheap price. And that is why it might be the best system.
I am only saying that sony has to come up with a way to let the public know that their system is worth $600 instead of it's fanboys being the only ones to buy the PS3.

Personally I have played PS3 at E3 and while the PS3 has some nice graphics, it's not worth paying $600 for it.
