Nintendo Wii wins Nikkei Trendy Best 30 - Image 1The Nintendo Wii's strong showing in Japan this 2007 has earned it the top spot in Nikkei Marketing Journal's Nikkei Trendy Best 30 consumer hits. In a list of great products that "change the market's direction or even initiate a completely new consumer lifestyle," Nintendo's white hot console took first place.

According to the report on The Japan Times Online, Nintendo's gaming machine was victorious over second placer Billy's Boot Camp aerobics regimen DVD and third placer video sharing websites like YouTube. Other entries include a career-oriented theme park for kids, perfume Axe Fragrance for men, and fashionable leggings.

Ninty's Wii was able to come out as the winner over Krispy Kreme donuts, McDonald's Mega Mac meal, and even prepaid cash cards. Even in its first year, Nikkei Trendy says the Nintendo Wii has proven its power to change how households look at gaming. Back in 2006, the Nintendo DS handheld was on top of Trendy's list.

I guess I should probably pick up Billy Blank's DVD hehe, I didn't know he was "hot" in Japan. But then there is always Wii Fit to let me know I need to lose a couple hundred pounds instead of Billy trying to get me to perfect my aerobic high kick.....
