Wii System Menu v3.3 update workaround already in the works |
Ó
Well, that was fast. We recently checked the Wiibrew website for updates and information regarding the disabling of the Twilight Hack in Wii Menu Update v3.3 when we noticed that they had an update. It seems there's a workaround already in the works that should, as Bushing put it, "fool their check into ignoring the TP hack."We also looked back at the previous article written and noticed that FreePlay already talked about the workaround being set up, so we decided to look for it. The process hasn't been publicly released yet, but the gist of it appears to be in the fourth update, according to Bushing's June 16 entry, which reads:
Congrats to tmbinc and tehpola for finding a combination of two bugs in the code that Nintendo added that - when combined - allow us to fool their check into ignoring the TP hack. More info will be forthcoming - I still wouldnÂ’t rush to update my system, anyway.

I wish there would be some kind of workaround for the Wii Freeloader.
There's is. It's called a modchip! :)
Hack away! Or have someone else do it.
ISOHaven... Modchips won't affect Freeloader. Nintendo patched the trucha signature bug in ISO30 (which is what the system menu uses). This stops Freeloader from running.
No amount of modchips will allow Freeloader to run because the digital signature on the disk isn't legitimate.
Um, you missed the point dude....with a modchip you don't NEED FreeLoader.
The modchip REPLACES FreeLoader.
The modchip "basically" has FreeLoader BUILT-IN.
You utter dunce
Missed the point there, slightly.
Looky here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/June16_update says they have a workaround for copying over the savegame at the moment, and that the Trucha patch doesn't matter cos Zelda runs on IOS12.
I predict a patched TP disk that runs on ISO30 soon
It was a quick fix(if you can call it quick)patch. That im sure even Nintendo knew wouldnt last very long.
As for trucha discs just use the Gecko Region Free loader to run trucha discs if you have the HBC and have updated to 3.3.
it would be cheaper to just make another update to IOS12 rather than patch zelda. They already did it to IOS30 JUST to break the freeloader disk. Now they need to make a new disk that uses a different IOS kernel.
I would guess that eventually ALL IOS's will be patched with the same code. Otherwise there is ALWAYS one that can be used by HBC and other hacks. You just have to know which one is still open.
I think the best bet is to create a custom IOS that is unlocked and has all the features of the latest IOS. Then you just install that in as an update and make sure any future updates dont over write it. It essentially leaves a back door for homebrew no matter what nintendo releases.
Why isn't it posted here yet?
Yes, I mean the new hack works with system menu 3.3
