Wii strap strength experiments |
Ó

Surprisingly so were a whole lot of other items. Like a knife block, 15 pounds of books, 25 pounds of books, 25 pounds of books and a knife block, and 25 pounds of books and a 100 fl oz of Mountain Fresh laundry detergent.
He did break the thing eventually, but that was after a few hours of wild violent swinging and intentional twisting and turning of the strap at the point where it connects to the Wiimote.

His conclusion? People who broke their Wii straps were probably overdoing it, and he speculates that most of the folks who broke their furniture were probably not even using the strap. Nothing ground breaking and nothing we didn't really know already, but you have to admit, the experiments were humorous weren't they? Given the large number of reported accidents, this can make you feel a bit amazed at just how strong people can get when they're having fun.
Relax, this isn't tagged as news, mmkay?

this proves that people are unawhere of how hard they swing while using the wiimote. Does this show that there IS such thing as TOO MUCH FUN?
"Nothing ground breaking and nothing we didn't really know already" im sorry but now suddenly they "already knew" everyone was overdoing it with the wii straps? they where the first to point fingers and make it appear as a fact that the straps where a defective product, now someone debunks it and its all "yea ofcourse we knew that" qj will do anything with stories these days. nice to know someone finally debunked the strap rumors and shut everyone up though.
I said the same thing. How the hell can you break the damn thing? They had to be doing something very, very wrong. Thank you for the tests too, and the ' I broke my tv/window/arm' thing, they couldent of had the stap on, no damn way.
the real difference between his test and what people actually do is simply the type of force being exerted on the strap. To put it simply people play impulsively so swinging and object at high speed will cause a very big amount of force over a very small amount of time. His tests however proved that the wii mote strap can handle heavier static weights. Now what id like to see is him basically holding that gamecube swinging from the wiimote and then letting it drop and see how easily is it snapped then.
Aero_Mayhem:
You couldn't be more wrong. That guy's tests show that there had to of been a constant pressure of 25 lbs "ON the strap" for a pretty good while before it broke.
First off, you're holding the remote in your hand; no pressure on the strap there. Even if you're retarded enough to let go of it I can assure you that you're not going to put 25 lbs of pressure on the strap every time.
So unless you just swing the remote around by the strap the whole time you play, there's no way a simple jerk from letting go could break those straps.
Turns out the Wii straps aren't a such a shoddily manufactured death hazard after all! Hats off to Nintendo for being so accommodating after all the complaints and qj for the excellent news items.
those straps are strong lol
I knew it was just plain stupidity. Though fatality by flying wii-mote sure does elicit a chuckle from me.
hey dumb f#%s just get a better strap for those people who complain there weak and sh%t get a fishing line, wire, or a shoe lace its just so stupid
