Wii Store Display Pictures

The good folks at NintendoPlayers have managed to get their hands on two new pictures of alleged Wii kiosks that supposedly will be displayed in the coming months upon the Wii's launch.

The pictures are photos of photos, taken on a 1.3 megapixel camera phone. They are as blurry as camera phones can be, so we'll leave up to you guys to judge if these pics are legitimate or not. Even the people at nintendoplayers are a bit hands-off when it comes to these pics. They have said though that they "believe them to be real".

The first image is what an aisle stand for stores will probably look like. The second shows the supposed GameStop Wii booth.

The source also had a bunch of Wii-nformation to give us. Here are some bits that I believe to be notable:

  • Wii Price - Likely price will be around $230. The source admits that this is only based on the best buy-mock up, but he claims that this is very probable.
  • Virtual Console - the games will be no more then $10 and expect roughly 20 to 25 at launch.
  • Target, Best Buy and Game Stop will have their very own sections to feature the Wii, Game Stop in particular will move the console to the front of the store
  • Mall tour: Supposedly, the participating malls will have 6 Wii playable interactives which will be manned all day, every day from 11/15 through January...
  • Launch Events: The major events will take place in two major cities (NY/LA) the night before the midnight launch.
  • Wii Beta-Testing starts on Sept 18th - Oct. 23rd so the source says that you shouldn't expect the system to released before that. If Nintendo does launch the system prior to that, the online features they're beta-testing will probably not be available yet.

We've seen rumors left and right these past few months, and rightly so, as Ms. Hilton would say the Wii is hot. At the very least, this bit of wii-nformation is a bit more substantial as details, dates, and even fuzzy pics are provided. We'll keep you updated folks, until then, practice not accidentally hitting your buddy with the Wii-mote.

I'm one of the writers at Nintendoplayers and some people were skeptical off these pictures. This is what the head of the site had to say about it:

When we first got the images, we were somewhat skeptical because of the blurriness, just as some of you are. But rest assured that we did analyze them very closely. When we dug up the metadata for each file, we found that the images were taken with a 1.3megapixel Motorola Camera...as you know, Motorola makes cell phones, not cameras, so the cameraphone story makes sense. We were also able to see that the files had never been altered. The first (the image similar to the one we've seen before) had been opened once and cropped in ImageReady; our source told us that this is because he had to crop out something that could've given away his identity, or at least more specifically where he worked. The second image had never been opened in any program at all before we got it; it went straight from the cameraphone to our inbox.

The second pic is the kiosk that was leaked a couple weeks ago from the GameStop employee handbook. It is different from the stations that Nintendo had at E3 (I was there). The first pic is clearly Wii, although it really does suck that the pic is so blurry. The console is definitely Wii, and you can also make out a picture of the Wii console on the upper-left side of the display, as well as two hands holding the controller and attachment on the bottom-right corner of the display. It's definitly a Wii display.

these images are rendered in a 3d program.. the shadows are what would be expected by a spot light.. i highly doubt stuff like this would be set in a spot light.

if they took photos of this with a camera phone.. they have to be off magazine or a picture.. because they are definatly not physical.
