Wii Specs 'Fully' Revealed

Maxconsole apparently received word from an "anonymous Wii developer" about the final Nintendo Wii specs. Due to the nature of the source, we can't be sure if everything is 100% fact - but looking at the amount of information and technical details, I doubt this is a fake.

Since it is a really expansive list, I will only be putting the most important parts here. Click the link below for the full details on all components of the Wii hardware.

So, without further ado:

Wii's "Broadway" CPU runs at 729 MHz; 243 MHz 64-bit memory bus (max. bandwidth: 1.9 GB/sec)
"Hollywood" GPU runs at 243 MHz, with 3 MB of internal graphics memory and 24 MB of high speed main memory (same GPU as in the Gamecube, but runs faster)
External Main Memory consists of 64 MB of GDDR3 RAM.
Optical Disc Drive supports Wii disks with either one (4.7 GB) or two (8.51 GB) sides or layers. Read speed is equivalent to DVDx6. GC discs are also supported
Additional Interfaces that come with the Wii: SD card slot, Wireless controller, two USB 2.0 ports, wireless LAN, 4x GC controller ports, 2x GC memory card slots and an AV multi output jack.
Wii controller features: Direct Pointing Device, Three axis accelerometer, Wii power button (remotely turn console on/off), buttons, wireless connectivity, indicator LEDÂ’s, rumble, battery powered (two AA alkaline batteries) and able to connect an extension unit.

unless nintendo market the machine correctly,it won't sell that well. On every launch day for nintendo that i have been to, hardly any consoles had been sold or preordered(On DS launch day i went in at about 1600 and was told that i was only the fifth person to get one) whereas for other competitors it has been a total sell out-no consoles available for weeks afterwards.

Nintendo also has a kind of bad reputation where i am-they have too much of a kiddy image with all the cutesy looking things. I like my GameCube, but very few places sell games for it any more-been like that for the last 2 years, and most that do have them at reduced prices to clear all the remaining stock. If the wii is going to go the same way i do not think ill get one- im fed up of having to go all the way into London just to find any relatively new games. Therefore i am going to wait and see how well the Wii does in the first few months before going out and buying one just so i am not wasting my money which could be spent on better things (ie a new phone or a couple of months payment on my car)

And we know that's not the case. So far Nintendo has some outside work coming for them off the bat so good for them. As far as not being "up" with the graphical power as the other 2 okay okay a good portion of people 'feel' that is a mistake but really if that's your only bad word to say give me a break. That's just as if you said I don't want that car because it doesn't go 0 to 60 in 4 seconds... weak.

So you must think if they can only think of one bad thing about the wii that okay cuz I have been hearing plenty of bad rep from both 360 and ps3 sooooo what can you do.

No one wants to come home after a hard days work turn on your Wii and swing your arms around like a lil kid, this console is so made for children. Hmmm, I can only imagine going to my friends house wathcing him swing his arms around and trying to block in Zelda, or even swining his controller to hit a baseball.

Everyone is so tied up in this controller thing, yes its innovative not bashing the system but people will get real tired of it. Just saying, the only thing going for Wii is the controller, most people will get sick of the thing and want Next-Gen graphics, when they see screenshots of lets say MGS4 or Gears of War and say why the hell am I swining this thing around and playing this kids game when I can actually playing MGS4 or Gears of War. It could get real boring. Considering it is a better choice price wise.

Also think about this, most kids/teens still live at home with their parents, we all know everyone sneaks out of their rooms or if they have a console in their room to play some games to get that one last level accomplished, don't you think its going to be pretty lame swining that controller around in your room around 1:00 A.M. Now, if you have lets say a X360 or a PS3 you can just sit in your bed under the covers and prop your head/legs up and just relax and drool over your Next-Gen console watching and being sucked into the enviroment.

Probably going to be bashed for this post, but everyone says their piece just wanted to say what I thought.

Your point is well made and I respect your opinion. (Don't listen to the bashing fanboys, your post was intelligent and respectful).

But personaly I have gotten bored of all the remakes that exist on all the current consoles long before I heard of this new controller. Pretty graphics do not make me want to purchase a system (I can play PC games if I want that), but the Wii is the first thing in the world of consoles that has really interested me in a long time.

Also, the controller's sensitivity can be changed so you only have to make very slight movements to do things, not much more than an analog stick would require. Yet you have a much larger range of control at your disposal.

For all of you idiots that are surprised and outraged, go hang yourselves. The premise of this system is not graphics. Think about this for a second: Would you rather play Pong in full 3D with only a basic set of features, or would you rather play Zelda for the NES? Well, if you have a brain, you'd probably realize that all of the "Ooh's" and "Ahh's" from the graphics pretty much disappear in a few minutes (unlike your virginity, which will be there for a long time) and then you'll be left there in your mom's house realizing that the "stupid little upgraded GameCube" looks pretty nice right about now. By the way, for those of you whining about the whole "But mom, I don't want to move my arm around." We all know that you touch yourself on a daily basis, but you don't cry to your mom about that.

Oh, and #7. Way to pick a great example for a Nintendo launch. The DS was an awful launch system, everybody knows that. None of the launch titles were noteworthy. Just because that system didn't launch well didn't mean all of the Nintendo systems launched poorly as well. If I can remember correctly, the DS Lite sold amazingly well in the first weekend, especially considering that it was a re-release of an existing system. Yah you guys have some goods points in there, its nice not to see people calling each other immature names and giving out lame analogie that make no sense. As true as it is about graphics you're all right graphics don't make a game, but they sure as hell make them better to play and enjoy.

I also get the point though, a lot of you enjoy the innovative idea, while I enjoy graphics, since my wife and I love our 360, we are awaiting a perfect example of a game, "Gears of War" graphically and gameplay wise its phenomenal, but I'm a graphics guy, just like you guys are innovative players, so I guess that concludes, "It doesn't matter what other people like its what you like" how true that is.

The stores will know the release date the same day we all will, that day is when Nintendo will officially say it. Also on the official Wii website they displayed a processor clocked at 1.5ghz, but it was taken down.

It also didn't mention the memory in the Wiimote. Definitively fake.

I personally think that people will, at first anyway, go for the wii. Its the least expensive and, while it is not that great graphically, Its got a good game history, innovative controls, and it seems like the most fun. When sony finally realizes that no one really wants to pay 600 for a system, no matter how good it is (unless its gonna sprout arms and legs and become a servant), they will lower the price and become more competitive. And as for the 360, its got the head start, the online and the hype, but it may not sell well against the other systems after a while unless it gets some good games behind it (or until it gets the juggernaut that is Halo). But my bet is, personally, still on the wii.

I work for Nintendo and I can tell you that these specs are 100% true. The Wiimote itself with all the technology it has will be $100 by itself. So if you add that $100 to a upgraded Gamecube you're getting a very good deal. Trust me that this is true. I'm the person that created the wiimote and gave Nintendo the idea to make it. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to buy a console that is around, or only slightly more powerful than an Xbox. The controller isn't enough to make me buy the console. I could go buy something that will give me the same graphics and such for $130...

I'd rather pay $500 for a system that will give developers some amazing power and versatility to craft some absolutely mind-blowing games, both graphically and gameplay wise. I'd rather save the $250 I'd be paying for a Wii for some PS3 games. Besides, most people will think of this to. I agree with #18. When people see how amazing the games look on PS3 or 360, they will stray to that side. And the PS3 has practically everything plus the more that the Wii has.
