Did you want to put your Wii's sensor bar on a more appropriate standing? Well then, good news cos you don't have to pull a MacGyver anymore. Nintendo's plastic Z-shaped Wii sensor bar stand patent has already been approved, and given a seal of 14-year-approval.

Time to put back that glue gun away in the tool kit. The "Base Stand for Sensor Bar" was granted its patent on April 7, 2009, after a long 2 1/2 years wait. Described as an "ornamental design for a base stand sensor bar", the contraption was co-created by seven Japanese inventors.

Seven guys for a sensor bar stand, huh? This better be a hella good sensor bar stand.

??? what the hell is this about? that thing comes with the wii.

I've had one stuck on my tv for about a year and a half.

I know, yeah. What the hell are you talking about, Mabie A?

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

My launch Wii didn't come with any stand.

When did you buy your Wii? Anyway, you can still sell goods that are PATENT PENDING. This news is about the patent finally being approved. I guess at some point Nintendo started putting the stands in units.

But again, I don't have one and don't need one. Why would you need the sensor bar to be an inch higher? Seems pointless.

it's used to keep the sensor bar in place on ur tv, not to raise it an inch

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

How the hell is that going to keep it in place any better then sitting it on the TV or using the sticky stuff it came with?

By the looks of that pic it will certainly stand taller.

"Why would you need the sensor bar to be an inch higher? Seems pointless."

Exactly! That's why it's new patented nintendo technology. A stupid plastic stand!

I built my own sensor bar (even though it isn't a sensor at all) from some high output iR LEDs that's far superior to the crappy Nintendo product. It works from 30 feet away at a 45 degree angle right on top of the TV and is powered by a USB chargable Zune battery.

Nintendo is pathetic.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

WOW! So you did exactly what every other third party did as well as anyone one who can READ the internet.

45 degrees? You're an idiot. They make IR LEDs that spread farther then that AND ARE high output. Go back to the drawing board!!!

Here's a hint, use TWO of them at a slight angle and you can achieve 180 degrees of spread just like I did. Although the camera still wont be able to reach that far because the points become too close together but it still works much better.

The wiimote does not work at an angle more than that. You're the idiot. I have 2 160mW iR LEDS in the middle and 4 40mW wide angle iR emitters at an angle.

Isoheavy:

"WOW I have 180degrees of infared light output! It doesn't make the sensor bar work better, but I don't care I'm smart!"

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

Smooth move idiot. You just proved to everyone you CAN NOT READ.

To quote myself:

"Although the camera still wont be able to reach that far because the points become too close together but it still works much better."

Seriously jackass, you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to get a CLUE!!!

My high output LEDs make for an awesome sensor bar. I get ultra steady operation at 30 feet away and I only stopped there because that's the end of my room!

While I can't control it at 180 degrees LIKE I ALREADY MENTIONED, I CAN go far beyond your pathetic 45 degrees.

Also, you are using WAY TOO MANY LEDS!!!!! That's ok though, it's a typical N00B mistake.

Also, quit trying to wait 4 days to respond in hopes I wont be here to tie up your BS. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! !!!!
