New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Image 1And so they finally spilled. Nintendo has finally confirmed the much talked about price cut for their Nintendo Wii console, and it's happening indeed on September 27 (as duly rumored here). Beginning that day forth, the US$ 249 console will be marked down to -- you guessed it -- US$ 199.

According to the press release sent out, this price markdown will benefit those in North America and Japan. And then on November 15, they're also launching their "World of Nintendo", a novel series of sampling events to further lure more people into the Wii craze.

Cammie Dunaway gives her official statement in behalf of Nintendo:

Wii has reached more video game players than any game system before because it attracts everyone - both men and women, and people of all ages. Our research shows there are 50 million Americans thinking about becoming gamers, and this more affordable price point and our vast array of new software mean many of them can now make the leap and find experiences that appeal to them, whatever their tastes or level of gaming experience.

And speaking of softwares, Nintendo has also revealed the official launch date for the highly-anticipated New Super Mario Bros. Wii. US gamers will get it on November 15th, while European folks will get it on November 27th.

As for the rest of the games you can expect to arrive on the Wii in the next couple of months leading up to the holidays:

Your calendars sure are full with Nintendo.

I don't think it will sell much more with that pricedrop. Everyone who actually wanted one has already one, and there aren't many good games coming in the near future.

Did cammie dumbway explain why nintendo lied about price cuts last week?

by YAMI ANUBIS X - 2009-09-24 05:13
» Probably not. Its unlikely that they would admit to lying

You should know how companies work. They all LIE like rugs.

Sony lies about price cut and PS3 SLIM and PSP GO! They never admitted that they lied. Same thing with MS.

I am guessing they dont want there image ruin because of one reason, they dont want RUMORS to become true until they announce it.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

A Nintendo spokesperson said 9 days ago "We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumor and speculation."

"This is rumor and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price. Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the UK offer price promotions on our products."

For that statement to be true, Nintendo must have decided to cut the price in the last 9 days (after leaked price cut photos were leaked.)

Yeah, right!

I see they use the republican method of lying. Say something obviously true, then follow it up with a total lie.

Yeah, it IS rumors and speculation, because ninty didn't want to admit it yet, but suggesting the $50 price cut was retailer led is a LIE.

They should probably just follow Sony and Microsoft's PR and simply say "we do not comment on rumors and speculation" regarding price cuts and whatnot.

Lying about it merely shows you don't care about your dwindling fanbase.

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

You have no clue if that comment was a lie or not. As far as he knew or his entire department knew, there could very well have been no price cut planed at that time.

"A Nintendo spokesperson said"

Which person? NOA? Japan? I bet the person speaking didn't even speak English. Was the translation correct?

Get more facts before you call someone a lair. Otherwise you just look like the damn fool that you are. And while you're at it, quit taking SINGLE MEDIA stories as fact. Especially from QJ. I've already proven MANY TIMES that you fail to even look at the source info.
