Wii players: Do CoD and Red Steel make you queasy? |
Ó
Well, if you do feel a bit of motion sickness while playing shooters on the Wii, you're not alone. It seems folks from Destructoid are also feeling the same problems.During one of Destructoid's weekly podcasts, one of them brought it up. "It's weird, because it only happens in CoD 3 and Red Steel on the Wii," says Destructoid crew member Robert. "I've never had this issue with any other game on any other system ever."
Depending on how susceptible you are to general feelings of queasiness, that might actually happen to you if you spend too much time playing FPS games. If we're lucky, it might just be an adjustment phase to FPS play using the new control system. It's a lot like what happens when you introduce newbies to FPS games, except even hardcore gamers with inner ear troubles can get schooled by the control scheme.
Do you have your own stories of Wii and Wiimote-induced motion sickness? Let us know. It might just be a bad epidemic, like the flu, or the Chuck Norris meme.

This happened with Doom too if you recall. People needed time to adjust to the first person view, it was brand new. This sickness will go away.
The only game I ever felt queasy playing, but i have yet to play those two Wii titles
This has happened to me once while playing Red Steel but not CoD im not sure if it is the controls or wut but i also start sweating a lot while playing RS too so im not sure wut is going on.
i NEVER got any type of sickness while playing Red Steel or COD3... i will tell you what games DO give me motion sickness while playing them
F.E.A.R. on the PC and Gears of War for the 360
this also happened when half-life 2 came out. Just a matter of ppl gettin used to FPS games. I played COD3 on my Wii all the way through and didn't ever feel queasy.
I felt queasy after extended multiplayer red steel matches on a big screen.. even threw up eventually.. might be cos i smoked two blutns and drank some alcohol though...
yea them outside influenses can get ya
I haven't played any of those games yet.But I got Elebits today played for an hour and had to lay down, almost threw up.And I can play games from like...9am to 11pm and not get sick.
It could of been my mom spraying that air freshener stuff or the game.I'll try again tommorow,if it's the game..I'm trading it in for Zelda since I already played that at gamestop and I know I won't get sick.
It's a shame though I guess this is what I get for laughing at the warnings booklet :(.
