Wii passes 10 million in sales, 220,000 behind Xbox 360 |

Despite heavy support from Japan where sales are up to 3.32 million, it's still sold the most in America with 4.07 million consoles. The Xbox 360 is still strong, selling 6.64 million consoles in a America alone, and with total worldwide sales of 10.32 million consoles.
With the way things are going for the Wii though, we may see a turnover soon. A month ago the Wii was a million behind the Xbox 360; today, it is now only about 220,000 behind. The Xbox 360 currently holds 42.1% of the marketshare. However, should rumors prove true about the Xbox 360 price drop this month (and signs point to yes,) we may see spikes in the market.

oh and those "rumors" about a 360 price drop are NOT rumors... http://www.majornelson.com/ will prove it. It's been anounced the following: CORE: -$20 USD/-$100 CAD PREMIUM: -$50 USD/-$100 CAD ELITE: -$30 USD/-$100 CAD There you have it. Other countries price drops wil be announced later on.
PS3 should just drop out of the race. Its sales figures are embarassing!! The Wii will always sell, not because its a great console, but because its the cheapest. And Wii will surpass the 360 this month, but in Sept 360 will regain the first place spot by a nice margin once Halo 3 is released. The PS3, well...crickets...lol. Maybe around fall of 2008 it will start to pick up in sales.
See this is why i love living in Canada. We have no crazy video game laws here and both the PS3 and the 360 cost less here than anywere else in the world including the USA.

Lemme make one thing clear: Im an Xbox fanboy, I hate PS3 just because its not Xbox. I hate my Car because its Not Xbox. I will never buy a Wii. But.... THIS IS GREAT NEWS, Kudos to Nintendo for being truly innovative, and in my opinion, starting a new era of videogaming. Sure, Wii has crap graphics, and alot of kids games, but Wii is doing more for videogaming than the giant corporate monsters who are trying to take over videogaming. Congrats Nintendo, & Miyamato, the only REAL videogame company in the world. Stick it in the ass of the these multibillion dollar psuedovideogame companys. That being said, I'm still stickin by my 360.

wow a $600 system that sells 4.5 million laughable? a system that was $200 less selling less their starting year with no competition is laughable! Sony all though compared to what they wanted is laughable the PS3 is doing great. People fail to realize the system sold without any Killer apps. no PSn content, an worse Online gameplay yet 4.5 million(probably 5 million now) was achieved. the PS3 is far from a dreamcast, the dreamcast had video games, great video games infact but lost. Sony was sold by a blu ray you say? Sony has never won a format war b4 let that settle b4 you speak.

The only reason they aren't selling anything is, because the system is limited to 3d only which is pretty tired nowadays. The same reason the ds killed off the psp is, cause sony's systems can't do 2d which is the way to make a real game.

im sorry but a console that costs $400 and up will never sell 35 mil. a $600 console would be lucky to even sell 15mil

But if the 360 and the PS3 continue this trend of having the same amount of sales, wont that make the 360 continously ahead of the PS3 since the 360 has a one year start? I mean, its going to take something big to make the PS3 sales jump and so far, the only game capable of this imo is MGS4.. but microsoft has Halo 3... so its going to be a tight race through out i agree, but since the 360 did have a year advantage its still got the advantage non the less.. The wii is just an ownage machine, it cant be stopped (unless the 360 and PS3 match price and adhere to the casual crowd.. which by the way usually has more money than hardcore fans begging their parents for cash).

You know there is no reason for anyone to buy a PS3, i just dont see the logic, i mean MGS4 is coming to the 360 later on, we all ready have Devil May Cry and GTA, plus we even took FatalInertia away completley(I played the demo on Xboxlive and it was awesome :P) The only reason one would by a PS3 is for Final Fantasy or some other gay ***** like Heavenly Bull***** or Lair (but honostly ive seen more character detail in Command and Conquer...10 years ago!!! ahahahhahaa!!) I love laughing at losers, it makes me feel better knowing that i did the right thing, got the right investment and will be enjoying the best games with the best audio and graphics and production quality. Oh (2d is really how games should be made) ya 2d GTA was a big hit, so was 2d racers. I'll tell you one thing about the casual crowd....THERE ALL F.U.C.K.I.N.G RETARDS!!!! They dont know anything about videogames and will play whatever they get there hands on no matter how bad the graphics are, because they work all the time and beat their wifes and kids. and sometimes it just feels good to sit down and rest that whippen hand with a solid go of Wii sports.

PS3 and 360 look to have the same slope on that graph, so they are about equal in sales. The 360 has a huge lead in sales though because of its years start. It doesnt matter how the 360 did starting compaired to the ps3's starting, its how they are selling now together. Most people didnt buy a 360 when they came out because they wanted to wait and see what the ps3 had to offer, at least i did. I ended up getting a 360, it has games now and better ones coming out in the near future (mass effect ftw)
