We play with the controllers we're given with - what can we do? That's what comes with the console. Well MobiusPigeon decided he wasn't satisfied with his Wii's nunchuk, finding the 8-way groove of the analog stick was too constrictive especially when playing NiGHTS.

One day he decided to do something about it so he took his nunchuk apart and used a grinding stone set drill through the analog stick's casement to make the hole a perfect circle. After that all it took was some sanding to make the hole smooth again.

The whole process took him about 15 minutes and US$ 4 to purchase the tools he needed. He explains that he did the mod so he can play NiGHTS on the Wii better - just like in the Sega Saturn analog. And quote:

With the release of NiGHTS 2 and with me absolutely hating Wii's 8 way analog stick as many do, I finally decided to do something about it and the results are fantastic. [...] I'm sure this cheap mod will work wonders on other games that require more liberal stick movement.

Now if you want to recreate this mod for yourself, just be careful as you might find yourself without a nunchuk. Or find yourself stuck with a hideously deformed nunchuk. If you do decide to risk it, at least make sure you have more than US$ 4 in your budget. (To buy another nunchuk. Just in case.)

Hmm

That sounds like a good idea, until you consider how risky it is...
