Look what Wii Saw

We've already posted about several WiiConnect24 features that Nintendo's Satoru Iwata himself announced. But more news is good news right? So here, we found this interesting little bit. Just look at the screenshot above, scan through the text, and look what it says about SMS.

Done? You sure? Scan it again. Yep. WiiConnect24 can be accessed via SMS. If they can find ways to somehow have that feature interface with, say sim games, then Nintendo has something great going.

Imagine leaving your Wii on and your god game or your simulation is running on the Wii, and then you leave from work. And then you suddenly feel like ordering your troops to attack the next country or something. All you have to do is type a few keys on your cellphone and then press send. Et voila! Instant world domination!

Of course that's just us dreaming that scenario up. For now, what's sure is that the Wii Message feature will work wonders with Animal Crossing.

Hum?

What the hack are you talkin' about? It reads SEND SMS. NOT RECEIVE them. News are getting pretty lame here!

#1 Is Right...

Yeah, it would kind of be hard for the Wii to recieve them. Sending is a cool feature, though. Although, this kind of leads me to believe this feature will be a one-way street. If I were to text a family member, how could they respond? Maybe the Wii could somehow recieve SMS messages afterall!

The idea they propuse is interesting

They should be able to recieve messages that would be odd if they couldn't but they'd have to work some kind of way of identification to send back to the wii.

If it is SMS, then I highly doubt a cell phone would be able to reply. They would have to have millions of reply numbers availeble. It might just be e-mail. Maybe you choose the cell phone carrier, and then type in the phone number. Most cell phone carriers allow e-mails to sms by just sending the number to, say 5035557035@sms.carriername.com. I think cell phones could actually reply that way. Some carriers charge more for that though. If it was done like that, then every wii could have their own e-mail address already set up. Just a thought.

Nice job...

Yea, almost all cellphones supports e-mails... Even my... So, you could actually send and receive messages between cellphones and Wii... The Nintendo has already added sms support to wii, so they MUST have some secret, but they just hasn't told it..yet... Anyway, Nice job Nintendo! Awesome! Wii is so gnna pwn PS3!
