Wii launches in Australia sans component cables

Ó

We want components.

Members of Australia's gaming community won't be too thrilled by this news. Not only have the had to wait longer for Nintendo's fabled Wii, but it seems gamers may still have to pay for some extra gas money to come back to the local game shop. According to Vispi Bhopti, Nintendo's Australian PR head, the Nintendo Wii's component cables aren't going to be coming out on the same day as the units.

He said the component cables to enable 480p would be on store shelves "just a few days after the Wii launch." Unfortunately, we should add the word "only" to the previous sentence, as the component cables will only be found in retail outlets and not online.

If you've got an HDTV and AU$ 49.95, then you may want to wait a few extra days before grabbing a Wii from the store. If you've been able to wait till December 7 for a shot at Nintendo goodness, then a few extra days won't hurt. Besides, you save a lot of gas just by having a little patience.
