Satoru IwataSeptember is still a few months away but Kyoto-based game company Nintendo is already having Wii pre-order jitters after Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced in a media briefing this morning that Wii's release date and price will be revealed during that month - most probably during the Tokyo Game Show to be held from the 22nd to 24th of that month.

For fans marking their calendars until the console's already available, the company is expecting to ship 6 million Wii consoles and 17 million units of software starting this year until March of next year. Along with 2- 2.2 million Nintendo DS, the fastest selling system in Japan per month worldwide.

I'm sure by then Ubisoft will have the real sword motions and fix the sensitivity for Red Steel. Polished games and launch info? It will be E3 all over again! Start the countdown timer!

If they're going to announce the release date and price at TGS, then that kind of rules out the suspected October 5 release date. People need time to know about the exact system release information before they go an buy it, let alone pre-order.

I hope the announcement is earlier in the month, and that they leave Tokyo Game Show as a buffer to display the launch titles so people can adequately guage their interest and subsequently build up their own hype just before the release.
