Wii homebrew devs Scip, Rodries, and the rest of the MPlayer gang have released a new update for MPlayer, a homebrew solution for those who want to turn their Nintendo Wii into a media player.

This release adds support for both USB 2.0 and TrueType fonts. It also features a bunch of bugfixes, including one that has resulted in smoother DVD playback. Here's the complete changelog:
  • USB 2.0 support
  • TTF font support
  • Fixed bug in radio streaming.
  • DVD-Video bugs fixed (DVDs should play much more smoothly now)
  • Fixes in Libdi to detect chipped Wii
  • Codec fixes
  • Updated to latest MPlayer revision
  • Many small fixes
Note that in order to make use of the USB 2.0 functionality, you'll need to download a USB 2.0 cIOS. Check the readme files bundled with the downloads below for more info.
