Wii Homebrew Channel beta 8 released |
Ó
The latest build for the Homebrew Channel for the Wii is at Beta 8, and Team Twiizers' update has made the HBC installer a bit more proactive in determining the status of your Nintendo Wii's System Menu. It also sports faster SD card reading performance, and many other improvements have been noted in the Homebrew Channel's changelog:
- you donÂ’t need to eject your memcards anymore
- switched from IOS35 to IOS21, this makes the hbc usable on older firmwares
- improved some translations
- the IP label isnÂ’t cut off anymore
- fixed argv support when loading SD apps
- fixed a minor wiiload issue
- the SD app entries are now sorted alphabetically
- wiimote rumble support
Now for folks who have boot capable Nintendo Wiis and would rather install a brand new Homebrew Channel without toying with the Twilight Hack, you're free to use the ISO versions of HBC Beta 8 auto-installers. Just make sure to download and burn the right version according to your Wii's hard-coded region, boot the disc up, and watch it make miracles.
As with the previous releases, a separate archive for the bundled Wii HBC applications is provided for those who are extremely picky about their collections. Read the procedures for installing HBC Beta 8 if you're braving the Twilight Hack route (latest Twilight Hack build here). With that said, enjoy!

It also sports faster CD card reading performance
Typo:
CD should read SD
Turned my Wii on this morning before heading over to the PC to see if there where any updates. Went to the homebrew channel prompted Beta 8 was avaliable.
Like the new installer, hope they can add USB Flash Drive support like WAD Manager 1.1.
Whoa! It's self updating?
That is so kewl!!!!
You have to accept the update(shows the changelog) so it starts downloading it and loads.
Pretty easy saves going to the PC...
Corrected. Thanks, pal.
sorry for the stupid question, but i need some help. I do not have the twilight princess game and i don't have a modified wii. Is there any other way i can get the hack running?
why is your short description always the same?
i just noticed that every post you make the description is exactly the same
as far as we know, there is no other way to get the hack running that I'm sure of. Either you can wait (which probably can take awhile), or you could probably find a copy of LoZ: TP for about $20-$50 and use it from there.
If you have a friend that has a modded wii you can get his drive, install it into your wii. Then install the homebrew channel iso, then swap drives back.
this will basically create a back door for you on your unmodded wii. any apps you want to run you just gotta execute from hbc.
I was suprised at how quick it scanned for the update and found it. Ninty takes a good minute to just connect to the server, as soon as i opened the channel a couple days ago it was loading the update
you could just borrow a friends Zelda game. I don't know i just find that easier
i managed to get a copy. The homebrew channel is great. I really hope to see more improvements with wii64!
Enjoy your homebrew.
"i just noticed"
Exactly!!! :)
