pi - Image 1Homebrew coder Comex has released a new update for Bannerbomb. Bannerbomb is an exploit that allows the user to load a .dol or .elf file from an SD card. It also allows users to run homebrew on System Menu 4.0 and all previous versions. The new update fixes some bugs and added new features.

Here's Comex description of the Bannerbomb exploit:

Bannerbomb is an exploit capable of launching homebrew from any version of the System Menu. It was created to replace the Twilight Hack, which does not work on System Menu 4.0. The exploit works by using a malformed banner to crash the Wii and run code to load the boot.dol placed in the root of the SD card. It can be used to install the Homebrew Channel, DVDx and the BootMii public beta via the HackMii Installer.

Here's the full changelog of the release:

v104 - v108
  • Message "Load /boot.dol?" changed to "Load /boot.dol/elf?"
  • Attempted to prevent the freeze-after-a-minute bug (other than by disabling WC24)
  • Added a message about the scam at the first popup
v103
  • Added some stuff that may or may not help with stability.
v102
  • First public release
