Wii firmware update now live |
Ó
Nintendo Wii owners would do themselves justice by hooking up their consoles to the Internet, because an update following IOS37 is now online. No changelogs are available as of now, but many users report that the patch addresses minor issues and security flaws to improve your experience.According to early adopters of the sneaky update, Wii homebrew enthusiasts need not worry because the Twilight Princess hack is still running. The Wii channel interface version is still locked to 3.2U, making it difficult to detect other changes.
While there are some claims saying the patch doesn't extend to Europe, the British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) iPlayer is scheduled to launch this April 9 on the Wii so license-fee payers who own the console in the UK might want to check it.
We're all eyes on any changelogs or solid details pertaining to the update, and we'll make sure to keep you posted. If you notice anything new with your Wii, don't forget to inform everyone through comments!

Did anyone check freeloader yet with this. I might want to buy Mario Kart Wii Japanese version with a Wii Freeloader for my American Wii.
Well, you'd be SOL there anyway, Japan's Mario Kart Wii doesn't work with Freeloader.
At least, for now.
- Playlists that were created in Music and Photo can now be copied along with the content they contain to a PSP system. You can play the content on the PSP system in the order that was set on the PS3 system.
- BD Profile 2.0 is now supported. With BDs that support BD-LIVE, you can access internet content for the BD.
- Resume play* can now be used on a BD or DVD even if the PS3 system has been turned off or the disc has been ejected. However, there are some discs on which resume play cannot be used.
- DivX content that exceeds 2 GB can now be played. Also, subtitles can now be displayed for DivX content.
Wait a minute, this is the PS3 changelog! Coming from a company that puts effort into making their consoles better.
Here's typical Wii firmware changes:
More security to protect Nintendo's profits
Removal of mp3 support
ability to change the photo channel icon
Once again, Nintendo fails.
I just don't understand this; but what did Nintendo fail at? They seem to be pretty successful. And you're still here complaining about a Wii. Anyways, do you care to explain what they fail at?
The only thing Nintendo is successful at is console sales. They can market and sell ANYTHING. They could care less about offering competive features when they're making so much money selling consoles.
Thats so funny, I was just thinking the same thing right before i read your post. Kudos for that one.
Here's Mr. Nonsense acting like an a-hole again.
He's still hanging on to his absurd notion that people buy Wii's for no good reason. That they buy them then never use them and they did that because Nintendo is good at selling.
Yup, total Nonsense.
He can't comprehend that people ENJOY their Wii and love to play it and have fun doing as such.
Ah well. Some people never learn.
nintendo made the industry what it is today. the wii proves they're still the pioneers.
the update that comes with the Mario Kart Wii Discs(UK)
"More security to protect Nintendo's profits
Removal of mp3 support
ability to change the photo channel icon"
More security: PSP did this too.
Removal of Mp3 support/photo channel icon: That was OPTIONAL, besides the wii's that were shipped with this, you had to download that new channel from the shop channel (for free), and hell, you could remove the updated channel from your wii.
Check your facts before you come to the wii section just to troll. Not many wii fans here are going to change their likings because of you're "opinions". If you're really bored, go post around on the PS3 section or something. I'm sure theres alot there to talk about.
besides, theres only been like 1 "real" update that was for security, that was 3.0, which blocked the gamecubes freeloader and what not. This update isn't even "live" yet. And the last update didn't even block the security, it just contained a fix, it never activated that said fix.
Mr. Nonsense doesn't know what he's talking about, as usual. The Wii is expansive. They add more and more channels all the time.
They don't need to make firmware changes in order to add content or make the Wii better. That is yet another BS fantasy LIE that Mr. Nonsense has created in NONSENSE WORLD.
