Wii featurette video features unique Madden Wii features

Ó

Even if you think the Madden NFL franchise sucks, you should watch this video. Because it is fun. Yeah. There's a big online crowd that says Madden NFL 07 hasn't been innovative enough. And EA took some flak with the bug in the Xbox 360 version. In fact, not everybody in the QJ team is a big EA or Madden fan, but it's interesting how we all kinda agree that this looks like fun.

Look at how gameplay can be enhanced by the Wii remote (or Wii Remote or Wiimote - depends on what your preferred nickname for it is).

Second, look at the totally unique features in Madden for the Wii. Finally, let's shoot the bull (bullsh@t?) about EA - we have some honest reactions about this one.
  • Free motion controls. The Nunchuck and Wii remote detect what you're doing. To hike, you snap it back. To throw, you throw it forward (the ball, not the Wiimote, because that would, like, break your TV and stuff). To stiff arm (our favorite part), you move your arm.
  • In-game tutorials and Learn Madden mode. Learn what you're doing right or wrong. Gosh, even my mom can figure this out (Mommy, if you're reading this, you know what to get me for Christmas).
  • Multiplayer minigame. Just mentioned in passing. Is that it in the background?
Yeah. Electronic Arts really tried with this one. We checked the comments at GameTrailers (where we found this video), and a lot of them agree. Rodimus563 said, "Looks like the first truly innovative Madden in the last decade. I'll definitely look into this," and Hoodz said, "I can't stand Madden but I have to admit this looks fun... I feel dirty..." And let's leave it at that (somewhat) positive note, shall we?

I'm psyched

I hate Madden, cause every version of Madden is the same Madden. This actually looks like a blast and so I'm going to get it. It's the first time in a looooong time that Madden will actually feel "new". I'm sure Madden 08 will resume the practice of, we'll just sell them the same crap!! So I am going ot grab it and have a new experience and never buy from them again cause it'll be the same rehash.

Finally.

It took a true innovation like a Nintendo Wii to do this. Sony 's SixAxis controller can't even do half of this stuff. Graphics? Who cares? I've been saying that all along. This version looks good, too. This will bring serious sports gamers to buy more Nintendos. Now let's see how a basketball game would work. I wonder what Visual Concepts is thinking of. Let's face it. The PS3 NBA 2K7 free throw is not an innovation. Just a novelty. It doesn't affect the gameplay that much.

DUDE!!

Dude! I never thought about a basketball game, but that would SO rock to be able to 'dribble' the Wiimote while moving with the nunchuck and bringing them both up and shooting, the accelerometers could detect the speed and angle you throw and it would shoot accordingly, that way the game would be based on your skill and not random computer luck. Aw man, I am SO looking forward to a Wii basketball game now, and I don't even like basketball! Thanks, dude!

I'm ready for it

Ever since the first article I read on Madden Wii, I've wanted it. Why is that so special? Well, the truth is I HATE sports games. The only ones I'll play are extreme sports like skateboarding or snowboarding. But I like playing some sports every now and then in real life and for the first time, the Wii has made me want to play regular sports games. I haven't really played a football game since Super Tecmo Bowl and a basketball game since Arch Rivals or NBA Jams. However, I can easily see myself buying sports games for my Wii now along with my Tony Hawks, Zeldas, Final Fantasies, Soul Caliburs and Metroids. Thank you, Nintendo, for making sports games fun again and not just last year's game with another number behind it.

I here that!

I'm not big into sports but I got to give this game a try! My brother-in-law used videogames to get me into wrestling so who knows!

i cant shake it....

i just cant...i look at it...and it looks like im lookin at ps2 stuff....
by - 2006-10-19 23:52:31
dont worry

dont worry you get over it.. i felt that everytime i played a ps2 game i was looking at dreamcast stuff. P.S. Game cube was more powerful then PS2.. so Wii is well beyond. stop whining and absorb the fact that gameplay with this and many other sports games will be far superior Basketball, baseball, tennis, golf hell mabey even eventually soccer.
