Wii does Windows, no word on dishes or cars...

Barely has Nintendo's Wii mastered the force, when it once again faces another great challenge - doing Windows. With the Wiimote becoming something of a curiosity among programmers, we've seen attempts at trying to hot-wire the controller for PC use. In these videos we're presenting from Youtube, it looks like somebody's gotten their Wiimote to do their bidding, as aside from cursor movement, the Wiimote can now click on the icons displayed on the screen.

Wiimote: Masters force, slices/beats eggs, does windows, entertains kids...next gen console, or next gen nanny(?)

I would love to be able to play an RTS with the Wiimote....thinking about playing LOTR BFME II with it makes me giggle!

I hate to sound skeptical, I'd really love for this to be true, I realy would.

But I believe it's fake.

This is definitely not fake. If you look around onsites that have not only much better news writers than this site but actually quote their source and link to useful things, you would see that there are bluetooth drivers out, and scripts to allow the wiimote to move your mouse.

You would need some kind of sensor bar to do that, not just Bluetooth.

you would not need the sensor bar, as its only picking up left, right, up and down like the PS3 remote, and not forwards and backwards in which the sensor bar would b needed.

i think anyway, could be wrong.

the sensor bar is there to let the wiimote know where its pointing at, not to capture its movement the wiimote got its own sensors for that, if im not mistaken

It is REAL. In fact, I was playing around with it yesterday.

It DOESN'T need the sensor bar because it DOESNT use the pointing function.

You tilt the remote left and right to control the X plane movement, up and down to control the Y. It almost makes it seem likehes pointing to where he wants it to go, but only til motion is fully controllable in the drivers released thus far.

This site breeds a bunch of skeptic morons. Check other real sources that care less aobut the ad revenue of their site and more about the actual development for wii.

Don't believe me?

Seems like YouTube's filthy sludge poored over into QJ, with idiots scrolling to the comment section as fast as they can to type in the word FAKE everywhere. The videos showed the Wiimote being tilted to track movement. It was not tracking the actual movement in space (which is what the sensor bar is for). You can tilt all you like and the tilt sensors will transmit that without an outside landmark. In "flight dynamics" terms, the ROLL is being used for horizontal movement and the PITCH for vertical movements. And obviously one of the small middle buttons has been mapped to left-click.
