Wii Does Not Come With Component Cables

CompositeSomething that nobody has been sure about with the Wii is what kind of Audio-Video cable will be in the box. Some have been saying that it will be an all-in-one cable. Some said both composite and component cables would be included. Others thought we'd only get composite cables. It looks like the third choice is the correct one. Only composite cables will be packed in with the Wii.

For those wondering, composite cables are the Yellow/White/Red cables you used for your GameCube. Component cables are used to display 480p graphics on televisions that allow for it. It's disappointing that you will not be getting component cables out of the box. Hopefully they won't be too expensive!

Nintendo said Wii comes with the cables... Maybe not progressive scan, but you can be sure composite will be in there.

that would be odd

If nintendo was selling console for causal and non-gamers. I think it would need cables out of the box. I would be pissed if i had come plugegd it in reading the instructions (It's a non-gamer perpective of course.) and saw component cables were sold apart from the console.

why component

ok.. ninty wants to target some non-gamers right.. maybe even grandma. now.. ask urself this.. does ur grandma know the difference between composite rca and component cables? most non-gamers (normal casual ppl that dont do much technology related stuff) will probably be playing on an old 19 or 27 inch crt tv from the early-mid nineties. why would ninty waste money on cables most ppl wont be using?
